Hi all,

I know I am planning waaaay early, but would love to know the best fare anyone has gotten from Winnipeg for January. Right now, they're listed at over $800 for next January, but I've seen them as low as $500 for June. Just wondering if I could expect that $500 deal for next January, as we get closer.

I can always dream, right?!

Our last trip (dec 08)we paid $1500 for 4 tickets from Wpg to Orlando on NWA through Minneapolis. Usually we use airmiles and fly Westjet.

wow - did that include tax?!

We went in January 2008, we paid $450 including tax for each ticket (6 travelers), which was bot about 6 months in advance. I'm told there are 2 good windows for seat sales, and once you get within a few months of your travel date, you've already missed them. We got them thru a travel agent, flew Northwest.

If you are renting a car anyways, you could also check out allegiantair.com, you can drive to Fargo :car: and get a flight right now for $250 US for travel end of March. That flies into Sanford, but for a family of four, the savings of $800 or so is worth the extra hour drive for us. But we also live very close to the border by Emerson. Parking at the airport there is cheap, $35 US for the week.

Happy planning!

We fly from winnipeg. In october 2008 we paid $396 CDN taxes incl on NW. (bought in April 2008)

I'm watching for this year and the best i've found is $466 CDN incl taxes and fees but that is usually on tuesdays, wednesdays and thursdays. when checking NW flights, use the search by price option and then check off flexible dates, then select your preferred dates. the search will return a weeks worth of options.

Keep checking often! I've seen flights really low in the morning and by evening they were back up. If you see a price you like ( i would say anything around $450-$500) grab it.

Lots of people will say to drive to fargo or minneapolis. This can be part of the vacation for sure. I think if you have more people in your group the better the savings will be. If there is only 2 or 3 people it may not be worth the time.(unless you are making that a part of the vacation). We have very limited vacation time and we don't personally feel it is worth the drive (especailly to MSP) JMO

We flew this January for $386 plus taxes with NWA. It went down even lower after I bought the tickets end of November but I didn't want to chance it. I was told this was a good price, but I used to live in TO and fly out of Buffalo so I it hurt.

FYI

NW march 25-April 1 $349 plus taxes ( totalling $466.28 CDN) per person

same dates SW from MSP $173 US per person including taxes. not included: parking, fuel, time to drive and exchange rate.

Big deals with WJ. We flew under $400 each return direct WPG to Orlando.
Just wait and watch.

We drive to Minneapolis and fly from there, using one of the Park and Fly hotels. For around $110, we get a room for the night before the flight departs and unlimited parking. Even with that cost and the cost of the gas to drive down, we save a lot of money.
