Just a thanks to the board for the best advice for visiting WDW. As advised, we got to the MK prior to opening, and not only did we get to see the little show opening the park, but as suggested we heaeded right for Fantasyland. The park opened at 9 and by 9:30 we were on Peter Pan, Snow White, Winnie the Pooh twice and Dumbo - no kidding. My kids (5,5, and 2) were thrilled. By 11 the wait for the rides were 45 minutes or more.

I'll second that! We did the same last week and it made for a very relaxing trip. At MK, we rode all the must-do rides for the kids in the mornings, and then DH got Fastpasses for the rollercoasters, etc. in the late morning and afternoon. We never waited in lines, so the kids weren't having fits. Ate lunch early so no lines there either.

At Epcot and MGM, being there at opening allowed us to get some great pictures of our kids with the characters. At AK, we went straight to the Safari and got Fastpasses, then walked through the Panjani Trail so DS could see the animals. By the time we finished, it was time for our safari, then we went to Asia to check out animals there, and then to Dinoland, where DH walked right onto Dinosaur. It was fabulous!

Thanks to everyone who suggested getting to the parks early.

I am a firm believer in getting tot he parks early. My new strategy for the magic kingdom is to head straight to fantasy land. MBIJ nothing better than knocking all those rides off in about an hour.

What I loved about the park openings is the countdown. At EPCOT, we all counted down the last 10 seconds before it opened and it was so cool! You could feel the anticipation. And at MK, I loved the Mayor, the dancers and the WDW characters entering on the train right before it opened. What fun! :flower:

We tried it this year and we just made it to the opening of MK. It was really good and the kids really liked it. This year also went to MK two days in a row and what ever we couldn't do on the Monday we did the Tuesday early before our CRT breakfast at 10:45. The Monday was really busy because of the superbowl overflow so we couldn't get near Peter Pan and Snow White and Pooh ride. We got them done all within 1hr and it was great.
