First trip ever, going in October.
6 adults and 4 kids ages 5, 7, 10, 12
We are spending a few days at the Magic Kingdom, and I am less than impressed with the dinner options for Table Service, so I'm looking for suggestions of locations we should go to out side the park.
We don't have hopper passes so we can't go to Epcot.

Any suggestions?

Hop over to Kona Cafe or O'Hana at the Poly or go to the Contemporary and eat at Chef Mickey's. I loved Liberty Tree Tavern in MK and have eaten dinner there twice.

I'd pick the Grand Floridian Café. It's easy to get to from the Magic Kingdom, the dining room is beautiful and their menu is fantastic. They can easily accommodate a large group, and it's a "nice" restaurant that is neither too casual nor too stuffy.

My vote would go to dinner at Kona Cafe, based on your specific requests.

They have an addictive Hawaiian bread with macadamia nut butter that we needed to limit ourselves or we wouldn't be able to eat our meal. ;)

The teriyaki steak is tasty, and if they still have it on the menu, the pomegranate bbq pork chop was outstanding. (My mother generously allowed me to try a bite of it!)

Have you checked out menus?

I'd suggest looking at menus to: Captain's Grill at the YC, Cape May Clam Bake (seafood buffet) at BC, Kouzzina at BW, Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL, Kona Cafe at Poly, Grand Floridian Cafe at GF, The Wave at the Contemprary.

There are, of course, others but start out with those. Don't know much about the restaraunts at SSR or OKW.

Take a boat from MK to Wilderness Lodge...Whispering Canyon Cafe. A lot of fun....great for kids.

Other great options monorail to Poly for Ohana......or Kona Cafe. Chef Mickey'
s is a great option as well.
Happy planning.

I know Kona is a big hit here, but I have tried it so many times and I am not a huuuge fan. I like enough but I don't love it.

For 1 TS I think Sanaa at AKV, Turf club at Saratoga Springs and The Wave are all great. GF cafe & Kona Cafe are good too.

For Family Style/Buffet I would go with Boma or O'Hana.

I noticed you mentioned proximity to MK so in order I would suggest The Wave, Gf cafe, Kona Cafe and O'Hana.

I'd probably agree with the Ohana suggestions. That's a pretty good value, and the kids will enjoy..

1900 Park Faire at the GF has Cindy, her beau, and step sisters and step Mom. They are all in character, and the step-family is a hoot!

I'd say the food is above average for a buffet.

Kona Cafe is also an excellent choice if you care more about the food than the ambience of the restaurant itself. Of course, the ambience of the Polynesian Resort is worth a trip there just for that. If you're on the Photo Pass, go up to the 2nd floor desk and there usually are photographers around to take your pics in front of the tropical flora.

My vote would be for Kona or The Turf Club...love them both!

My vote would definitely go for O'Hana. So much fun and such great food. We loved it and will definitely go again next time!:cool1:

but we do not like 'Ohana. For a fun dining experience with your kids, I'd take the boat to Wilderness Lodge and Whispering Canyon Cafe. If you are looking for more of a dining experience, The Wave at the Contemporary is wonderful and you can take a leisurely 5 minute stroll or the monorail over there.

I agree with pixie08. We have also tried Kona several times and though we like it, it's not a must do. Both Sanna and the Wave are very good choices.

Couldn't agree more. O'Hana was my least favorite on my trip this May, would not go back. Whispering Canyon is cool, but in all honesty for 1TS i like Wave or The Turf Club

Non-character, we really like Ohana and Boma especially since the Poly and AKL are so fun to explore.

But if you want a character meal, that's different

A boat ride from MK to Grand Floridian (for GF cafe or 1900 PF) OR Wilderness Lodge (for Whispering Canyon) would be great. Both places have great restaurants!!

Also, Ohana & Kona at the Poly both have great food. Ohana is character dining. Kona is not. Kona has great food, but if you want a nicer/fun atmosphere, i'd go Ohana, or GF or WL.

Liberty Tree in MK has YUMMY food! Its one of my fave places!! :)
