Besides shrimp, what kind of food do you like to eat on New Years Eve?

DH and I are invited to my cousin and her husband's house for dinner. Menu: clams casino, shrimp scampi, fresh bread, salad and chocolate mousse cake. Mmmmmm! can't wait for someone else to cook for me since I was the hostess and the chef on Christmas Eve and Christmas day.

We started a tradition last year. We stay home but invite others to come over and join us.
This year I believe DH is making shishkabob. lcmtam86 and I will start the night off at the Chinese restaurant having a few and picking up Chinese food.

Always lobster for dh and myself. Kids get to choose what they want (they don't like lobster). They'll probably pick McDonalds.

We usually cook a prime rib and it is DELICIOUS!!!!!

Last year was the first year in a long time that we did not do this, becausee we were at WDW!!!! Usually it is just my family and my brother's family. This year they are divorced so I think we are still going to do the prime rib and just have a group of people over so he won't feel so strange.

We usually have (among MANY other things) crab legs and sashimi (raw fish). Sashimi is a very hot commodity at New Year's and the price goes up tremendously. Usually we get lucky and someone will give us a nice chunk of raw fish.

We also eat mochi, which we pound ourselves (we're doing this tomorrow), which is good luck. On New Year's Day, we make a soup called ozoni (this is a Japanese tradition), which is a very simple broth with mochi and mizuna (a vegetable).

I'm thinking of having fresh pasta with scallops and shrimp in a garlic sauce.

We usually have shrimp (but I don’t’ eat it – don’t really like fish of any kind), cocktail weenies & sauce ("Everybody Likes It"), rye bread dip (my specialty) chips & dip, cheese & crackers, beef stick, Chex party mix (my other specialty), raw veggies & dip, and my sister’s amazing cookie tray (buckeye balls, German chocolate brownies, stamped cookies, etc.) I’ve got some coupons for free cream cheese this year, so I may make my 3rd specialty – mini cheesecakes. For beverages, other than the usual soda/pop, we’ve got some asti spumante – a real family favorite.

DH is making scallops wrapped in bacon, stuffed mushrooms, shishkabob and we'll have shrimp.

ya had to go and remind me it is almost New Years Eve. I am working till 5 then I'll come home have a few drinks then fall asleep, wake up Jan. 1 at 6am and back to work I go, what a life huh? My son refuses to buy Chinese food, a long story behind that but maybe we'll give in and do it this yr.:D
