Benefits to book online vs phone?

You have more control over a phoned in reservation, no benefit from doing it online.

For the past 5 years I have booked my entire package-- Parker Hopper tickets, roundtrip flight, DME, Pop Century hotel, & MVMCP Tickets all online & have never once had any errors or mistakes. Seamless & easy & no errors.

Then you seem to be one of the lucky ones. Disneys online computers are NOTORIOUS for being screwed up.

I do believe the cancellation policy also differs. 45 days I think online, but only 5 over the phone. So if you do need to cancel, phone is better off.

Cacellation policy is 45 days on phone and over the net. Both have the same policy.

I will never call again. I was charged over 140 dollars by a CM on the phone who said anyone over 10 was an adult, so he charged a 17 year old in the room as an adult. I said, isn't that for tickets and dining? All I have is a room-only reservation. He said, no, its for hotels too. I believed it because he should know this being his job and all.

WELL, I called back and a great CM said he was wrong and he changed it for me. He said being an adult over 10 was for tickets and dining, haha. I knew it! I shouldn't of called, who knows why I did. I'm lucky I said something, or I would of paid 140 bucks!

So now, I will do the rest of my bookings online since I never had a problem with it.

We'll be at WDW during the same dates but at AKL. We'll be there for MVMCP on 12/11/07 so maybe we'll see you there. Look for the green Mickeys with my screen name.:thumbsup2

Back OT, we book with a CM so we can be absolutely sure all of our requests are entered and all choices are correctly entered. Sometimes a CM is very helpful and offers alternatives which can save you $. Sometimes they'll even let you know that you've got a code you may not have even known was there.

That is only true if you do a package. If you do a room only reservation, the cancellation policy for a phone reservation is 5 days while the cancellation policy for an online reservation is 45 days. I have been able to avoid the cancellation fee by modifying my online reservation. The CMs need to call Guest Services for permission to override the fee, though. But it has never been a problem (I'm notoriously bad about constantly changing my reservations).

I check prices and availability online, then call to make the actual reservation. The website often has glitches, like the current one that is not showing the discounted AP rates for the weekends in January/February. Online, the weekend rate at a mod is $165 for a king room but by calling I got the right price of $115.

I did book thru WDW online for the 2007 trip and via telephone for the 2008 trip and they were equal!

I booked our package by phone, and specifically asked about any discount codes that were available to us. I told her that I was a repeat guest and asked her to see if I qualified for any discounts. I was able to get a HUGE discount. We got two rooms at the GF for the price of one at the Poly. It is worth calling and asking. Remember, the reservationists AREN'T allowed to volunteer any discounts, but they have to give them to you if you ask about them and one is available.

I checked the availability online both with the Disney Website & AAA & then I called WDW and made my ressies using the AP discounted rate. Lucked out this time.........can't wait to have another mini vacation.

I booked my room only reservation online just about a month ago.

And I'm quoting here from the bottom of the confirmation email:

• In order to receive a full refund of your deposit, notification of cancellation must be received at least six (6) days prior to your arrival date. To cancel or modify an existing room reservation, call (407) 939-7429†.

Where are you getting the 45 day cancellation policy for room only reservations made online? I've seen it posted to the DIS before but I can never track it down.

i have recently booked for 3 parties. my own i booked through dreams with a ta, both my sisters ressie and my nieces ressie i booked with them through the phone. all three were verified by me online before anything was done just to be sure everyone was on the same page. i have felt i have lost control of mine because the ta has to do so much of it and i can't. as there was no advatage i probably will never do this again. both of the other ressies seemed to go well, except when the confirmations came in. keep in mind that both of these ressies were done at different times, by different phone agents. somehow both are wrong. wrong spelling of names, even though names were spelled out numerious times. there were other miner things as well includinig a 17 year old made lead on a room. i didn't think you could be lead on a room until you were 21. anyway, this has been my experience so maybe online would have been the way to go:surfweb: . at least it agreed on the price and any errors would have been mine.:thumbsup2
