Benefits of AARP membership?

The AAA and AARP discount is similar in amount and in terms of what companies offer it.

A couple of times I discovered hotels offer a certain number of AAA discounted rooms and a certain number of AARP discounted rooms. There weren't any AAA discounted rooms available but there was an AARP discounted room available.

This should take you to the discount page. http://discounts.aarp.org/

Thing to do when out is just ask if the place gives a discount to AARP members and sometime even places not listed will give you a little off the tab.

We use it for flights/hotels and at rebok a lot. The discount for hotels is the same as expedia, I think. Sometimes they offer an additional 10-15% off the discounted price.

For the price- you get a magazine and a newspaper type mag. every month. They let you know about legislation that may effect you as you age. I figure membership cost is covering price of shipping alone. All other discounts are above that so you do save all year.

There is a discount on 5 day hopper Disney ticket for $321.95 before taxes. Thereare discounts on 7,8,9 passes too. Even with taxes added to 5 day pass I think it might be a little less than Disney price, but it cannot be cancelled.

You don't have to be 50 to join AARP. My friend joined in her 30's because of the discounts. We used them for many mid-day matinees.

As the mom of a soon to be 16 year old, I don't feel like a senior but AARP keeps reminding me of my advancing age:thumbsup2 Ummm thanks AARP!

Don't worry, they will track you down!

I'm the mom of a 14 year old at 51 and I know there are older ones out there than us. It is hard not to notice age differences when I am at school functions. Took him to his 1st drivers ed class today and noticed the young moms.

I have had AARP for a couple years and think it is worth it even just for the hotel discounts. It is especially worth it when I hooked on my husband for the first time when he was only 48 and he complained bitterly about it. He always teases me about being older so I could then tease him that he was in AARP too.

Thank you for making me look it up :) AARP.org then member benefits (left hand corner under join) then discounts and you can see all the benefits ..........I didn't know that I could get a discount at Reebok outlet stores which is where I am heading today to look for new shoes! So thank you, thank you, now I just hope they have what I want! Now I will make a list of the places I might use the benefits and put it in my wallet:worship::worship:

Thanks! :) I could have looked. For some reason I was just drawing a blank on where to start. It could not be as simple as AARP.org. ;)

I saved $26 Reebok outlet today and printed out a list of discounts, I sure am glad I read this thread.

1) It does have good discounts.
2) There are lists within the website
3) But, we ask at EVERY eatery and store.
4) Many places give "AARP" spot discounts up to 15%-20%.
5) Usually at least 10%, so the card and membership are worth it.

NOTE: However, we do discard their magazines and weekly mailers.
