DH and I recently turned 50 and now receive frequent solicitations from AARP. Interested in hearing what the benefits are and is it worth it?
The letters vaguely mention discounts.
AARP at 50??!!I turn 50 in a couple of weeks and for the first time in my life an age is bothering me. I thought all the senior citizen discounts started at 55 or 60, never ever thought is was 50.
Are you considered a senior citizen at 50 too??
On the other hand, I love discounts!!!I'll have to take a look at what all the discounts are.

I tried AARP for a year. Never use any discounts that my AAA didn't already have. I never renewed.
Denny's 20% off meal, up to 10:00 or 9PM, and coffee discount all day.
Rainforest cafe 10% off
Dunkin donuts free donut with L or XL coffee
Eye glasses JC Penny, Sears, Lens crafters, and some doctors. 30% off but my Penny's special for $99 all frames and free lens was less.
I received a discount on the medicare supplemental, I have an insurance policy they offer.
My dh has discount medications
The room discount for AARP on recent hotels was larger then the AAA. Just received something for dental plan I am going to look into. Eye glasses, driver training discounts for car insurance (You can take the course, but there must be a discount fee for memebers)
UPS Shipping,
Michaels has 10% off on Tuesdays,
Duhans sports, 10% off reg price merchandise
You can print a $3 off a $10 Walgreens purchase, show the AARP card
Just found this post and had to share with DH. He turned 50 this year and is planning on joining AARP. We are big coupon and discount people, so we were hoping it was worth it. The letter just says discounts but doesn't list them. Is there a site that we can visit to see all of the discounts? We are also members of AAA, but would not mind having both memberships.
