Benefit of MagicBands? Can I buy them used?

Since hearing that offsiters can now get Magic Bands, I have been trying to figure out why I would need it. Are there any benefits (other than not having to have my ticket for 3 fastpass and looking like onsiters)?

My 12 year old really thinks she wants one, and I am trying to decide if it would be worth the $64.75 to buy them for our family. OR, should I just take that money and use it for fun snacks while we are at parks. Can I get them cheaper used, and if so, will they actually work?

What is everyone's advice??

Once a MagicBand has been linked to a MDE profile, it can't be linked to another profile.

A MagicBand is equal to your hard, plastic park ticket and can easily be lost by anyone. It's also easier to hold the ticket to the tapstiles rather than the band.

Save your money and buy some great-tasting snacks at Goofy's Candy Co.!!

You can buy them used if you are looking for a useless trinket or to unlock a dragon thing in the Infinity game but that's about all a used band will be to you.

No way would I buy a band just to have it.

Fantastic! Now, I have ammunition against splurging on something that I really didn't care about anyway. lol Just have to convince the tween that she isn't going to look like an alien by not having one on her hand. She is a pretty practical kid, and isn't used to being given frivolous stuff, but for some reason, she thinks she really needs it.
