I was just browsing the menus on Allearsnet (trying to figure out how much money we'll need.... *gulp*). Now perhaps I expect too much but honestly, no kids pizza at....... wait for it.... PIZZAFARI???!! :lmao:

Strange that they don't have pizza at a pizza place, but they DO have kid's pizza as an option at most of the TS restaurants.

My thoughts:

1. Maybe it's a mistake?

2. Maybe they just charge a set price for those individual pizzas, no matter who orders them? (If so, they should offer pizza sticks or somethng smaller in a kids meal, perhaps?)

It does seems strange to not offer a pizza kids' meal in Pizzafari.

Oh I know that. They have pizza in tons of places but I meant I am bemused by the lack of pizza at that restaurant specifically, not at WDW. I have changed my title to clarify that. :)

Confused here....all the pizza at Pizzafari is individual....so what is a kid pizza?

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that most CS offer children's meals which are different selections than the adult meals. If they already offer pizza, there's no need to offer it again in a children's meal.

At one time PIzzafari did sell "Childrens' Meals" that consisted of a cheeze pizza at a very reduced rate. However the management of this restaurant found that for some strange reason the number of adult cheeze pizzas was almost none existant. It appeared that adults were purchasing the childrens's pizza for themselves. Accordingly, restaurant management removed the Childrens' pizza from the menu, and now if your child wants one you have to pay the regular price for it.

They sell cheese quesadillas with marinara sauce and cheese crackers on the kids menu instead of pizza.

The pizza place in MK (Pinnochio) doesn't have kids' pizza either! And as someone on the DDP, I'm thinking we just don't go there. There's no way my kids would accept not having pizza in a pizza place.

I don't think a kids' pizza is offered at Toy Story Pizza Planet at MGM, either.

They do have pizza at Pizzafari, but because they are individual pizzas and they can't really make smaller ones, they have apparently decided that one size fits all. I'd assume this is why pizza isn't on the kids' menu. If it was a big deal I'd get in touch with someone who has something to do with the dining plan, explain that the kids love pizza, and outline the problem with the dining plan rules.

I wasn't aware that Pinnochio was a "pizza place" - they definitely did have cheese pizza when we went in Feb though - that's what my children ate there.

Well I wasn't talking about a particular size of pizza as such, more that I was surprised it wasn't on the kids menu at all i.e. a reduced price for 9 and under as with most meals.

Well there's a need insofar as kids meals are generally cheaper. I don't know how many places do it but I'm pretty sure there are places that offer the same choice of food but at reduced portions and prices for children aged 9 and under. It's more about paying less for kids rather than having alternative choices for kids I think. Columbia Harbour House, to the best of my recollection, had fish and fries in kids portions and adults portions.

Thanks! That makes sense!

Thanks though my comment has nothing to do with the dining plan - we're not on the dp at all. I was just browsing the menus and thought it was funny. Most likely we'll order 3 adult meals at most CS places anyway and split them between the 5 of us.

Last summer we chose to eat ther because DD then 9, wanted pizza. Well we were on the DDP and were not allowed to order pizza for her(unless we paid OOP). I gave her my pizza and ate the quesadilla.

Strangely, it is the one place where we were told that we HAD to order a kids meal for her. Every where else we ate CS, they did not mind that we ordered adult meals for her. No big deal though.

Nope, CHH does not have a kid's size portion of fish and fries. Here's the kid's menu from AllEarsNet:
"Macaroni and Cheese - served with fresh grapes and cheddar crackers and child's beverage (apple juice, lowfat milk, or soft drink) $3.99

Chilled Chicken with Cheese - served with grapes and cheddar crackers and child's beverage (apple juice, lowfat milk, or soft drink) $3.99 "

IMO, the reason for no kid's pizza at Pizzafari is because Disney makes more money by only selling the individual size pizza. If a kid wants pizza bad enough, the parent will buy it, regardless of whether or not it's a kid's meal. It's a quick way to upsell the customer.
Similarly, most burger places do not have a child's burger either. Even the McDonald's at AK only has kids chicken nuggets. If the family goes to that restaurant and the kid wants a burger too, the parents will have to pay for a regular one. It's an instant upsell for Disney. I know this from personal experience. My daughter was a very picky eater when she was younger and would eat mostly burgers or pizza. Very few places at Disney have those items in kid's meals. The only one I can think of is Tangierine Cafe and that's probably because the regular food may not appeal to many kids.

I have no idea what you are all talking about, but i have strange craving's for a slice of pizza now.

Go to the freezer. Everyone has at least one frozen pizza in there, or a leftover slice of Dominos or Pizza Hut pizza wrapped in tin foil.

you know me so well! :teeth:

Last year we ordered a kids pizza meal which consisted of the personal pizza, chips and drink. Maybe they no longer do this?

I think this was particularly a problem when AK had that wonderful Meal Deal program. People figured out very quickly that if they bought the "child's" pizza meal, they got the exact same pizza PLUS chips or carrots or something. In the past, I read more than one post about how people (adults) would buy the Child's Meal Deal to use at Pizzafari... thus, saving themselves a chunk of change.

As far as making smaller portions... the pizza making is automated (at least according to WDW Unwrapped). So unless they cut the pizza in half it would not be cost effective for Disney to offer smaller portions (would need new machine or pizzas from another source or pizzas made by hand).
