Now I'm thinking about ADRs for October ... Disney has me so well trained that even though we can't make them until July I'm already trying to puzzle them out so that the F&W Festival can set them on their ears!
Actually it's the days that Dylan & Jen are going to be with us that are the ones giving me a bugger of a time right now.
My very very very rough dining draft looks like this right now:
October 14th - (J&B arrive early afternoon) ... we're looking at lunch at Chefs de France and then some F&W reconnaissance before heading over to the pool for a late afternoon snooze in the sun. We're going to bite the bullet and try Yachtsman for dinner around 8PM.
October 15th - It's an Epcot F&W kind of day. We'll have breakfast in the room or over at the Boardwalk Bakery and then begin the first of many days of food booth snacking. We're going to take our customary afternoon break and then head over to Kimonos for some sushi for dinner. If we finish up early enough we'll head back to Epcot for Illuminations and then perhaps a late night No Way Jose at Beaches & Cream.
October 16th - Something that I don't really know about is happening early this afternoon. And then we's planning on dinner at bluezoo around 8PM. It's a mystery wrapped inside an enigma in a riddle ... or something like that!
October 17th - Gawd help us all it's my 40th birthday!!! We're thinking of trying the breakfast buffet at Fresh (Dolphin) since Spoodles will no longer be a viable option. After that we're totally up in the air ... do we have dinner at Jiko? Bistro Paris? Do we splurge at V&A? Do we go to PFTS one last time?
The only thing I do know is that we thought it would be fun to see if any of you DISers want to meet up for a drink at the Beach Club around 9:30pm? BYOB and we'll supply some birthday cake!
October 18th - DylJen arrive! We're trying to give them a taste of some of the more unique dining offerings at WDW without breaking their budget. So we thought we'd drag 'em over to Sci-Fi for a lunch of burgers, alcoholic shakes, and cheesy 1950s movies. Dinner may be at Rose & Crown since Dylan has always wanted to eat there.
October 19th - I think we may have Kona for breakfast this morning. The nephew and the hubba are jonesin for Tonga Toast and as long as I can get real coffee in a WDW restaurant I'm a happy girl. This may be the day that Jay and I choose for our Drink Around the World Redux and we'll give the youngsters the choice of watching us make total donkeys of ourselves or going off on their own. If we survive this attempt (and there's no reason to suspect we won't ... we're already planning this one carefully - it's going to be a riot on paper once we get home) then Jay and I think Flying Fish would be a yummy way to celebrate. Thinking of sending DylJen to Tokyo Dining (he's a Japanese fiend).
October 20th - Up in the air but there has been some chatter about going to MNSSHP that night. And Jen is a big fan of tea. Do you see where this is headed? Afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian as late as possible with four dorky adults dressed up for the Halloween party?
And this way we'll still get our hotdogs from Casey later in the evening! What will happen earlier in the day in terms of food is anyone's best guess at this point.
October 21st - It's a blank slate.
October 22nd - DylJen's last day. Jay and I said we'd take them to dinner at one signature restaurant during their visit. Jen suffers from intestinal troubles but she's not taking drugs ... I think she's got something more along the lines of Irritable Bowel Syndrome rather than an actual disease like yours truly. I only mention this as a distinction, not to trivialize her troubles. I feel for her because at least I've got something to keep my issues "controlled" and I know a lot of my triggers. She's so picky she makes me look like I'll eat barbequed shoe leather with a side order of rusty nails.
So that rules out almost every signature on property with the possible exception of CA Grill, Jiko, and Citricos. My gut (ha ha) tells me we're going to end up at CA Grill, which would be a nice experience for them and I think a nice way to end the trip. And Jay and I have already said that we'd both take a different approach to the menu if we do end up dining there - we think we're going to keep it appetizer heavy and force ourselves to try some new items.
October 23rd - Our last day and a truly sad goodbye since we will not be back in 2010. I imagine that we'll spend a lot of time at Epcot and if we haven't already made it to Jiko or Citricos one of those will likely be our farewell dinner.
Lots of holes to fill, I know ... I'm really thinking out loud right now and I don't want to overschedule DylJen. I think they're most looking forward to eating around Epcot so I want to give them plenty of opportunity to do so. The only other things that they've mentioned is playing Fantasia Minigolf (poor Dylan ... he's been trying to play that for years and the weather always craps on him) and THE KITCHEN SINK at Beaches and Cream!!!
Thanks for letting me share!
