Tell him the wine budget goes too far! :sad2:
Wine is the magic that keeps us goingpixiedust:

How dare he talk budget when it comes to food and wine :sad2:

Jay and I just give it lipservice ... and then we go bonzo with the food and booze 'cause life's too short to eat bad food and drink cruddy alcohol! :thumbsup2

I can see that I am in good company!!! My day off is usually spent hitting several groceries & wine shops! So when he mentions budget again, can I tell him where to put his budget?? Can I count on y'all to have "my back"? ;)

I thought it was "Life's too short to Dance with Ugly Men???" :confused3

And....

"Those who live in Glass Houses shouldn't have ugly furniture..."

I don't dance ... that would spoil everyone's appetite. :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl:

Besides I'm on a diet, how much can you spend on chicken anyway? ;)

See... last's night's dinner was not budget blowing.

With the economy the way it is  and in order to keep up my Disney & food habits ;) I'm starting a new job today. It's the first time in 17 1/2 years of marriage that I'll be working, so I'm feeling a little :crazy2: :scared: :upsidedow right now but all of you funny/crazy people are helping me relax, so thank you :grouphug:

I'd feel the same way. I've worked out of my home for about 6 yrs. Going back into the "real world" is a frightening thought to me and a also a possiblity later on. Hope it goes really well for you! pixiedust: Let us know!

That looks fantastic! I need to get to Whole Foods, I haven't been in a while.

Hey Deb! I know .. I usually show up in a town right before or after the BIG event I wish I knew about before!

Here is the link with all the Cal. Food and Wine Dates and events! Looks good this year! I can't wait!

http://disneyland.disney.go.com/dis...specialEvents/detail?name=FoodWineLandingPage

Kabuki,

Thanks! I kept looking at the DIS info, but they only had 2008.
Looks like the two weekends will have the best event.
I'm going to sign up for the Winemaker Dinner. Wish I felt flush enough to sign us up for the Napa Rose cooking school. If I remember correctly, it cost a small fortune last year.

No problem on the info!

I know what you mean about the Napa Rose School...It was $350.00 last year! :scared: Who know what will happen. We are still trying to pick events and get a room....

You guys are killing me with all this gorgeous looking (and sounding) food. My WW diet is going slowly and I'm sure there are more points in some of those dishes than I get in a week :sad1:

On the plus side, I landed myself a new (second) job yesterday which doesn't pay very much but, with the $ so strong against the £ at the moment, every little bit helps. I am determined that we won't be cutting back on our October trip so will just need to save more before :goodvibes

It was a little frightening, but I made it thru the first night. I'm doing taxes, which is kinda funny because I don't even help with ours at home-DH does them ;)

The scariest part yesterday, was that since we're still early in the tax season and business is slow, they're keeping staffing down. I worked with the office manager for 2 hours and then had the office all to myself for the next 4 hours :scared: and closed up by myself. Thankfully I had my first client while the manager was there, which made it a little easier when a family came in later in the evening.

Congrats :flower3:

Yikes! How did I not see this thread of yours Brenda? I have a lot of catching up to do! Can't wait to dive into all the foodie discussion. :hyper:

ETA: We'll be doing F&W October 9-18th.

OMG-- I am a mango and guacamole fiend. I MUST try this!! It looks delish!

So... last night I had a breakdown and had to have hot cocoa. I made it with 1% milk so justifiable on weight watchers. My dh had bought me this Italian Hot Cocoa machine for my Birthday. I have to admit I don't like coffee and I'm a hot cocoa snob. I even avoid places that make hot cocoa out of hersery syrup junk. I love hot cocoa made with dutch cocoa. My all time favorite. Well, this hot cocoa machine I have makes perfectly whipped hot cocoa at the right temperature. It looks like a cappacino if you ask me.. Thought I'd share:

Yum! I'm a mocha girl myself. I'm very picky about my chocolate.

No... I think you did just fine... besides, I usually associate heavy breathing with other activities... ;)

Ohhh Baby... slip some schnaaps in there and we're in BUSINESS!!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

I haven't been on the Disboards for (gulp) 2 WEEKS, so forgive me the multi-quoting.

Totally off topic ... one of our other favorite cartoons is The Critic which was woefully under-appreciated. Jay just sent me this link which never fails to reduce me to the squeaks (high pitched laughter with tears).

Watch Me!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl:

That's...just...
um....
really....
wrong...
yet, pretty darn funny.
:rotfl2:

Last picture! The morning we left.. Hilton Buffet that was free with our room price .. Jason and his breakfast of champions..

Prime Rib and a donut! :lmao:

My dh would say "Sign me up!" His favorite breakfast is country fried steak.
Ugh. But any beef product and donuts would be swell.

This weekend we made a final batch of milk punch ... oh, milk punch ... and I was inspired to write this little ditty. I'm not very good with poetry ... I'm a prose kinda girl ... but I thought those of you who also enjoy this beverage might get a chuckle out of my silliness.

An Ode to Milk Punch

Oh, cool and creamy beverage
sprinkled with nutmeg
cubes clinking merrily
face-numbing nectar of the gods
the pitcher empties far too soon
and we are out of brandy.

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

Gold Star!
You can come be in my poetry class that I'm teaching at our homeschool co-op.
Only girls signed up. Isn't that weird???
;)

Ok... and to follow up on Bendy's hillarity!!!

(yes... I know...it's silly and stupid... but we LOVE the Muppets...)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r395r7V7hjo

We love the muppets so much we've bought the first season to indoctrinate our children with. :thumbsup2

We are all spending a wonderful snow day off watching the inauguration today. We got about 2-3 inches of snow yesterday, a little melted, then another couples inches last night, so we are out of school! :cheer2: Even DH took the day off (very hard to maneuver our vending trucks on icy streets). I am actually glad that school is out because I had planned on picking Olivia up for lunch early to let her come home and watch the innauguration. I just think it is such a momentous occasion that I want her to remember seeing it, even if she doesn't understand the importance until later. I told her this last night, and she said "How old will I be when I understand it?" :rotfl:

And to also pay homage to the wonder of brandy milk punch:

A "Punchy" Limerick

There once was a girl from Stinktown
Who in order for her sorrows to drown,
Mixed mixed milk, sugar and brandy
And declared it quite dandy.
But she drank too much and promptly fell down!

Cheers, y'all! Have a great day!

I sometimes want to say about politics "How old will I be when I understand it?"
LOL

Lovely Limerick! You get a gold star too! You can join my class also. :thumbsup2

I thought it was "Life's too short to Dance with Ugly Men???" :confused3

Ah...words to live by indeed!

And....

"Those who live in Glass Houses shouldn't have ugly furniture..."

My ds (now 12) thought the saying was "Those who live in glass houses shouldn't get dressed in their living rooms."
:rotfl:

That looks awesome. I need other people to cook for me. Not happening.
Even when the kids cook, I have to tell them what to cook.
Sigh.
On a bright note, I think dh is taking me out tonight. We'll use our gift cert. to Applebees. Hey, it's not gourmet, but I don't have to cook it!
