Day 6 and Conclusion.
We woke up as normal on our last day, had breakfast checked out and left our bags with left luggage before making our way to the park for EMH. We were sad to be leaving but exhausted at the same time. We were very happy that we made it in for EMH every day and I had even began to enjoy Buzz Lightyear finding the secret target in the last room and therefore even beating DH on one occasion. We went on Dumbo, Peter Pan, Carousel, Tea Cups and then Buzz twice before heading back for rope drop and Pirates of the Caribbean. We picked up two sets of Fast passes for Big Thunder Mountain and then went on Star Tours before going back to Frontierland to do Big Thunder Mountain twice. We just squeezed in Phantom Manor before our 12pm lunch at Pizza Planet, review copied for ease: We ate here for lunch on Friday 19th june. We had heard bad reviews recently but had always enjoyed the food here so decided to give it a go. We ate at 12pm and the place was practically empty although we did have to wait for DH pizza burger to be ready it was only for a couple of minutes. DH loved the pizza burger and has it every time. I had the bolognaise pizza which was delicious and i actually preferred it to the pizza served in Cafe Mickey. There was plenty to entertain children, a play area and cartoons on the screen. It is a shame this restaurant is not made more of but with it being so out of the way and not exactly like Pizza Planet in the film it is usually empty.
We would definately go back to this counter service restaurant as it is clean, quick service, quiet and relatively cheap. The pizzas are not as large as Cafe Mickey but are larger tahn i expected, they area ls more deep pan which i enjoyed.
We had a 1pm guided tour booked review copied here: We did a guided tour of the Magic Kingdom on Friday 19th June at 1pm. This was our last day in the parks and we had tried to book for the day before but the time clashed with our booking at Walts. We went to City Hall 10mins before our tour to pay, you do not pay in advance when you make the booking, and we received our discount for being shareholders. We were expecting a group of people but we were the only 2 on the tour which was taken by a French man called Francoise.
The tour started in Main Street where he advised us he could spend the entire 2 hours talking about. We talked about the Disneyland Hotel and the decisions made when the hotel was built. We looked at lots of the shops down Main Street with many things like names in widows pointed out to us and explained. We looked in both the Emporium and the Photo shop at the bottom of Main Street and talked about these in detail. Next we went to Frontierland where the story of Phantom Manor was gone into in some depth and next through to Adventureland where the different types of building and vegetation were explained.
Fantasyland gave us a long explanation about the castle and how the land is made up from many different European countries. The tour finished in Discoveryland, where a great deal was said about Jules Verne and H.G Wells. We ended the tour with a backstage look at Star Tours which DH thought was brilliant. When the tour had ended we were both presented with a special pin and he invited any questions even though we had been with him for 2 hours 15mins already. The tour is a walking tour and as it was our 6th day it really did wear us out. We plan to do the Studio Tour which is 1 hour on our next trip.
By this time we were even more exhausted but realising that Casey Junior and Storybook Land were finally open we went on both of these before collapsing at the ice-cream shop at the back of Fantasyland eating ice cream and watching the parade go by.
When we finished this we decided we were too tired to go on anything else so we went down Discovery Arcade to get a better look as DH really likes this.
Then we did a bit of last minute shopping including the most enormous snow globe. It has the pink castle in the snow globe and many different characters on the outside and it is huge. The box is even bigger. DH went to Casey’s Corner to get hot dogs whilst I waited as we would never have got in with all our shopping. We enjoyed our last meal in Disneyland review here: We ate giant hotdogs from here just before leaving to come home on Friday 19th june. The hotdogs which i had plain and DH had with cheese sauce were delicious as usual. I also thought the price was very reasonable for Disneyland. Casey's provides an alternative to the hotdog stands which were not open during our visit. We ate them outside as it was hot but the queue was not too bad. We paid 10.50 Euros for 2 hotdogs which is expensive for hotdogs but good compared to Cafe des Cascadeurs where 10.50 Euros will buy you 1 hotdog a few chips and coleslaw.
Then we picked up some goodies from the Cable Car Cookie shop had a quick look in the emporium but no pin board, although I wasn’t that disappointed as I had been thoroughly spoilt. We made our way to Eurostar and collected our luggage we were over one hour and 15mins early but the queue was ridiculous. When we got through passport control and security the escalator had stopped working and no-one could get the lift to work so we had to carry the suitcases down the stairs which was not good as they were very heavy.
We were allowed on the train with about an hour before we left and as usual I occupied myself by watching the video we had taken. The massive snow globe was a slight problem as it was very heavy and we didn’t want to put it in the luggage section for fear of it being broken so we took it in turns to have it on our lap for the journey home. This is where a table would have come in handy!
We loved every last minute of DLRP and achieved all of our goals set out in my pre-trip report. It wasn’t long after we got back that we decided we wanted to go again so all going well we plan to go in October 2010 and stay at the New York Hotel When we went into the shop we got a good vibe from the hotel which I have to say I didn’t feel from the Sequoia Lodge. Also the pull of a hot breakfast in October will be very nice. If money stretches I would really like to go for half board premium and am already planning where to eat. It’s never too early I say. I will also finally get to see DLRP at Halloween and am really hoping we can go for MNSSHP.
