Belle, Gaston, and Donald hit up MNSSHP! WE LEAVE IN EIGHT HOURS

Well congrats to you on graduating in May!

Thank you! I'm so excited! Here's hoping nothing horrible happens to prevent it. :thumbsup2

Haha, not sure how her guitar would like the rides but what a funny idea!! Yeah, why no place can have cheaper things is beyond me but I'll do my best!!

Congrats!! I hate staying off property, it's so much more disney when you stay on property!!

I agree! It's much more fun for me to stay on property. As much as people complain about the buses, I prefer them to driving in the car, parking, waiting for the tram, riding the tram, waiting for the ferry or monorail, riding the ferry or monorail, etc. etc. And then doing it all in reverse when you leave the park!

The element of being surrounded by Disney non-stop is a big plus for me! I'm hoping to spend some time the evening of the 30th after we've arrived just walking around and looking at POP. Laura has stayed there.. twice now? I think twice. And I don't know if she's ever had the chance to just walk around and look at all of the fun decor like Rob and I have. So if she wants to see more of the resort than just the track to the room, I want to make sure there's time for her to do it.

Hopping on over - it is fun to hear about a trip without a little one - LOL!! (I love my princess, but I would have fun with adults only too!!) I will live vicariously through you!!

Amy

Thanks, Amy! I can't wait to read more about your surprise trip for your daughter! I bet she'll love it! :goodvibes Thanks for reading, and I hope you'll stick around through the trip!

Yeah I love the buses. To me they just bring out more of the disney atmosphere!! Plus when you get in them they're not swealtering from the heat!! I'm really excited to just walk around Pop and look around!! It's definitely on my to do list!!

Hey!! I just followed you over from my PTR!! I can't wait to see how your costume turns out!! And especially Gaston!! His songs are some of my favorites from B&tB (well, then again...pretty much all the songs from the movie are my favorites, they're so good!)

I agree about the buses! Plus, I quite enjoy being driven around and taken right to the gate!

POP is pretty fun to explore, at least to me. Did your online check-in work out?

Thanks! I'm excited to hear more about your trip, too! It looks like your family is going to have a fantastic time.

I hope our costumes come out well. I'm still on the search for things to put with mine. I'll probably make a post about it soon, as far as what types of pieces I'll be looking for. DBF hasn't really thought about his costume, but he's been doing push-ups to work on his Gaston arms. I love Gaston's songs, too! Such a creepy villain.

I'm working on an update post! :surfweb:

Sorry I haven't been posting! I've been busy moving this past week! My roommates and I moved out of our apartment, and two of us are moving in with our new roommate (other one graduated) into a townhouse sometime in the next few days. Now that I've gone through the pains of moving out, I'm in no hurry to do it all in reverse. And then fall semester starts on the 17th. I'm really nervous about the next few months. I'm doing my senior seminar this semester, and basically I have to write a mini thesis paper over the course of the term. I usually do pretty well with research papers, but I'm still anxious about it. I'd feel better if I actually liked the seminar topics for this term. But I didn't want to wait until spring to complete the course, so I'm stuck with a topic I really don't enjoy.

Enough about school! I know it's random and really early, but I've already started listening to Christmas music! :santa: It's my favorite holiday and time of year, and I'm ready for it to get here! So I've already got a couple of stations set up on Pandora. :woohoo: And the other day, DBF and DBFF came over to my house (I'm staying with the parents while I'm temporarily homeless) and we had a Star Wars marathon! :darth: We tried to watch all six films in order, but halfway through Episode VI, we had to stop because DBFF needed to go home and Rob and I were tired. But it was a wonderful day! Except we ate a ton! popcorn::

As for my PTR, there are a couple of things to update about. First we got our MNSSHP tickets!! But I totally forgot to take a picture of them! :headache: I'll try to remember to do that before the trip. One of the tickets has Minnie Mouse on it (that one's mine) and two have Mickey on them. DBF and DSis already decided they wanted those, so I got Minnie. I'm so excited about having the tickets! :yay:

Soon I'm going to write an update about our costumes, or at least what we're trying to find. Laura still doesn't have any costume preferences, I think she's waiting until more Halloween stuff comes out.

I don't know whether or not we'll keep it, but I went ahead and made us an ADR for Kona Cafe at 1:45pm on Halloween before the party. I figured if we want to get there at 4pm, we should allow for about 15-20 minutes transportation time from the Poly. And we don't want to rush to eat, so I wanted to give us plenty of cushion time. I don't know about lunch (I've only ever eaten dinner at Kona), but we've had some waits to get seated in the past. So I wanted to give us some more cushion time. So 1:45 it is! I figured if we get seated between 1:45 and 2:00, that will give us about an hour and a half for the meal. We'll try to leave the Poly at 3:30, so we'll be ready to get into the MK when they start letting MNSSHP people in! I'm hoping that if we eat a late lunch before entering the park, we won't be slowed down with eating before the party. Between 4:00 and 7:00 is when we'll be focusing on attractions that we want to do before the party. I also want to make sure we get some photos before the sun goes down!

But at some point during the night, I'll need to make sure DBF gets a hot dog at Casey's!! He's crazy about them. And I do love their french fries with the cheese sauce! :thumbsup2

I've been trying to nail down Rob and Laura to give me info on their priorities for the MK and the party. I want to make sure everyone gets to do as many of their priorities as possible! For right now, I'll just give you my list.

Attractions
- Haunted Mansion! It's Halloween!
- Splash Mountain (I know this will be on Rob's list too, it's his favorite!)
- PhilharMagic
- Either Peter Pan's Flight or Snow White's Scary Adventures if there's time. Snow White is more likely if the line isn't too long.

MNSSHP
- Possibly HalloWishes! It really depends on whether or not DBF and DSis have any interest and what other party activities we're focused on when 9:00pm rolls around. Fireworks shows are fun, but if I miss it I won't be devastated.
- Second parade. I've read on other threads that lots of people have usually left by the time the second one starts so it's easier to find a spot.
- Trick or Treat for at least awhile
- Character greets! I don't know exactly which ones will be out and where they'll be, so it'll be a lot of playing by ear to see them. This will probably be going on simultaneously with trick-or-treating.

I don't know if I posted this already, but I'm planning on making our trick-or-treat bags! Back in April I made some shirts for Laura and her friend to wear on their WDW trip with my parents for their spring break. They were celebrating Laura's birthday, so I made them some birthday shirts using iron-on transfers. They came out wonderfully and were surprisingly easy! So for trick-or-treating, I'm going to try to find some plain black tote bags (unless anyone has another color preference for theirs) and find a good design on the DISigns board to iron onto them. I've looked on jiffyshirts.com and found some tote bags that might work. I'm excited about this project!

Well I've got to run and get some lunch! Take care!

I've seen pictures of the MK during Halloween and it makes me want to go so bad during that time! The HalloWishes and the parade look so good!

I did finally get the online check in to work. Because I didn't book with Disney directly I didn't know which number was my confimation number!! I finally found it (you'd think I'd remember from when I made my ADR but nope!) So we're all checked in now! I so want to go during Halloween!! But of course I have never been able to because of school. But this is my last semester and gosh darnit I am going to make it in the next few years!! I think it'd be so much fun!! Good luck with this semester. I'm sure you'll do fine with the research paper. They really do suck though! You're plans all sound great. Of course you have to do the HM!! Ohhh I want to see the characters in their costumes (they do wear costumes, right?) I think Ian would love to go down during Halloween. Definitely a must do in our near future!! I definitely want to see your trick or treat bags when they're done, that's such a cute idea!!

I can't wait to see all the decorations!! I can't remember ever seeing them before (may have been on a trip way back when that I don't recall :guilty:) so it will be like a whole new experience for me! I've read a lot of posts saying that HalloWishes is the best MK firework show, so I hope to catch it. If not, that's what future trips are for! The parade looks so awesome, too! I hope we find a spot early enough to see the Headless Horseman walk down the route a little bit before the parade starts.

Thanks for the good wishes about the semester! Back in spring, I had to write the longest research papers I've been assigned to date, and they about killed me. During one of my summer classes, we had a five-page paper assigned. I'd forgotten what it's like to write one that short! Hopefully the senior seminar won't be too bad. I've heard my professor is pretty tough, though.

I think that some of the characters wear costumes (like Pooh, Tigger, Mickey & Friends, etc.) and then there are the other characters like Alice and Snow White that are just in their normal costumes. I'm hoping to get lots of pictures! If Ian is a Nightmare Before Christmas fan, he probably would enjoy the Halloween season in WDW! I can't wait to read about his experiences on this trip!

I'm glad the online check-in worked out. For this trip in October, I'm going to use it for the first time. Let me know if you have any problems with it so I'll know what to watch out for!

AND YOU'RE LEAVING FOR DISNEY TOMORROW!! I'm so excited for you!

No problem!! Ugh, I hope the class isn't as bad as you heard. Good luck with it!! Oh I want to see Mickey in his costume!! That would be so cute!! Yeah I really think he would like Halloween in Disney, we'll have to do it sometime in the future! Oh I know, I'm so excited!! I can't wait to see how he reacts to things!! It'll be like I'm there for the first time too, experiencing it with someone who's never been! I will definitely let you know how the online check in works! Ahhhhh I can't wait until tomorrow!!

I hope you and Ian are having a wonderful time right now!!! Oh man, I hope the class isn't that bad, too. I haven't gone to price my textbooks yet, mainly to avoid the sticker shock. :scared1: Now I'm really excited for Halloween! Today I went shopping for apartment stuff, and there was so much cute Halloween stuff out!

Hope your trip home is a safe one!

Hello fellow DISers! I'm so sorry I've been lacking in updates/posts around here the last few days. I'm finally moved into the new apartment, with most of my stuff unpacked. I haven't put away any of my clothes, though. :laundy: Last night one of my roommates and I watched some movies and relaxed, happy to not be homeless anymore!! But our internet isn't set up yet, so we're both in a coffee shop using the free wi-fi while enjoying some hot chocolate (it's been a yucky rainy day). :surfweb: Earlier I tried to be productive and shop for a few things I need for my room in the apartment, but couldn't find anything that I liked. You wouldn't believe how huge my new bedroom is!! It's about twice the size of my room at the old place, so now all of my furniture and things look lost in the empty space. I feel like it's a hike from my bed to the closet at the other side of the room! But so far I'm enjoying living there! My other roommate should be moving in later this week. I'm glad she wanted the largest bedroom across the hall, because I have too much space as it is in mine!

Laura/Donald is all moved into her dorm room! Freshman are required to live on campus, so my parents came up yesterday to help her move in. I'm treating her to dinner tomorrow at a sushi restaurant since her campus dining plan hasn't kicked in yet.

Classes start Monday! :scared1: I can't believe I'm starting my last year of college! May 8th can't get here fast enough. :yay:

80 days until we go to Disney!!! :cloud9:

Ugh, I don't want to go back to school. B/F and I start Sept. 1. :sad1:

I wish I had that long before classes start! I'm so not ready for Monday. Good luck with your semester!

Guess what? I have internet access in the new apartment!! So excited, now I can DIS to my heart's content! :thumbsup2

Yay for the internet! :woohoo:

Hey we're back!! We did have a great time, we didn't want to go home. Congrats on moving into your new apt! Good luck with school! I so don't want to go back, I start this monday. I just have to keep in mind that this is my last semester!!

Ugh, I'm so sorry I haven't been a good disboard member anymore. Classes started, so that's been eating up my life. Senior thesis is going to control my semester!! Working on my proposed topic today, and hopefully the professor will approve my ideas. Then the research part starts! I don't have classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I have to use those to get lots of work done. And then there's the reading for all of my other classes. :laundy: I really lucked out this semester in that I only have one other paper to write, and it's a very short and easy assignment. But I did realize that next semester will probably be worse. Looking at the syllabi for the classes I can pick from for next term, each of them requires at least two papers. So my last semester will include at least seven or eight research papers, and lots of them due around the same time. :scared1: I just keep looking at my graduation ticker to try and remind myself I'll eventually get to the end!!!

On the WDW front, I got some Mickey Mail a couple of weeks ago! :yay: Got me really excited. Rob and I have been trying to talk about our costumes, but we're so rarely in the same city anymore that it's been difficult to pin down an opportunity to work on them. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do for our trick-or-treat bags.

And on an unrelated note, everyone should go see "Inglourious Basterds" right now!! Or at least as soon as possible. Rob and I managed to scrounge up time to go on a date and see it last week (by the way, anyone else remember when Waffle House and a movie used to be a relatively cheap date?). We both really liked it! So I definitely recommend it if you're looking for something to see. I admit though, watching it as a history student got strange at times.

Now I'm off to catch up on my subscribed threads for awhile! Take care!

Thanks! Good luck to you too!

Yay for the internet! :woohoo:

Yay, indeed! I don't understand how college students can function without convenient internet access anymore. UGA keeps everything online now, so it's the only way to access assignments, syllabi, etc. I've had more than one class where all quizzes are taken online. So as a student, it's really more of a necessity than a luxury nowadays. And as far as entertainment, it's how I watch all of my shows! My roommates and I decided a long time ago not to purchase cable, because everything can be watched online anyway. The only shows I keep up with anymore are LOST, The Tudors, and The Office. But reruns are out there, too. So the internet is just my one-stop shop for everything, haha.

Hey we're back!! We did have a great time, we didn't want to go home. Congrats on moving into your new apt! Good luck with school! I so don't want to go back, I start this monday. I just have to keep in mind that this is my last semester!!

I'm really enjoying your TR! Can't wait for your next update about your first park trip. And I'm so jealous that it's your last semester!! I just keep repeating to myself how few months I have left to keep my spirits up. Have you started the new job yet?

Thank you!! Probably try to update tomorrow, ya know school stuff gets in the way! Oh I can't wait until december because this sememster is just going to suck with all of the work and starting my new job but I'll get through it! Just keep telling yourself, there's not much more to go! I have my orientation for the job this coming monday and then I start work on friday. Ugh I'm nervous but at the same time I'm excited to be doing something I really want to do! Has your sister had any ideas of what she wants to wear for her costume?

Don't be nervous! I'm sure you'll love it! Good luck! :thumbsup2

I asked Laura about that the other day, but she said she hasn't settled on anything yet.

Yeah I'm sure I'll love it too but the nurse manager made me really nervous! We were figuring out my schedule the other day and she was worried if I could keep up and that there was a lot of things that I needed to do and I understand that I need to be ready to take care of these little ones but she still made me a little nervous. Tell her to hurry up, there are people who want to know! ;) J/K, I'm sure she'll figure out something!
