Hello everyone! I decided to go ahead and start my PTR just to get it up and running!

This is a PTR for our special Halloween trip for fall break this year. I can't wait to start updating and planning our trip! I'm an obsessive planner when it comes to Disney trips, so there will hopefully be plenty to read!

Stay tuned for a post about the who, the when, the why, and of course the where of this PTR! :wizard:

Okay, now time to introduce you to the cast of this PTR!

The Who: Anna, Robert, and Laura

Anna (me/Belle) - 21 years old
I've been a Disney fan practically since birth! My first trip was back in 1991 at age 3, and I was hooked! I've been well over 30 times in my life, but there have been so many my family lost count. At the moment, I'm planning on going to MNSSHP dressed as Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

Robert (Gaston) - 22 years old
Rob is my boyfriend of four years. His first trip to the World was in 2006 with my family, and this will be his fourth trip since then! He's my favorite travel companion so I am so happy that he is going on this adventure! Here is a picture of us together from 2007. I'll have to find some good ones that are more recent! Rob is planning to go to MNSSHP dressed as Gaston from Beauty and the Beast!

Laura (Donald) - 18 years old
This is my younger sister, a fellow Disney addict! She was only six months old on our first trip to WDW, but now she's all grown up. Between you and me, I still can't believe she's already 18!! Laura hasn't decided what she will wear for Halloween yet, so I'll keep you posted!

So what are we going to Disney for, anyway? Halloween!! Laura and I were talking about how we've never been to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party before, and we should go sometime. Since we're full-time students now, trips during autumn aren't really an option. But I decided to investigate anyway and see if there was a quick time we could scoot down to WDW (we live about 6-8 hours away, depending on who's driving the car) for a weekend to do MNSSHP. Since we've been so many times, we never feel that need to do as much as possible every trip and prefer to take it easy and just enjoy whatever we can. So a quick trip for the Halloween party seemed like a fun way to spend a weekend. This would actually be my second quick trip this year! If you feel like perusing another PTR and TR, in my signature are the links for my last-minute birthday trip to the MK with my dear old Dad back in April!

Anyway, back to this trip. Lo and behold, our fall break is the weekend of Halloween this year! Laura and I both attend UGA now, and Rob is at a university in our hometown. Technically, "fall break" is only one Friday off, but a long weekend is still a long weekend! So we chatted about it, and decided to drive down to Disney on October 30th and stay there through Sunday afternoon, with MNSSHP on Friday the 31st! Rob is going to still have class that day, so we don't know exactly when we'll be able to leave on Friday yet. I'm hoping we can leave before noon so we can try to arrive before 7:00pm or so.

So the When: Friday, Oct. 30th - Sunday, Nov. 1st!

Where We Plan to Stay: POP Century!
POP is by far our favorite Value Resort. This will be my fifth stay here, I think. It's so fun, and I love that the resort has its own bus line, as opposed to the All-Stars that have to share buses for places like DTD.

See you next time! :yay:

Hello!!!! Oh gosh you started a PTR!!! Just saw it in your signature and I believe I'm the first to comment!! :woohoo: Another quick trip to Disney?! I need to move closer!! You and your bf are so cute together!! I can so see him as gaston! Can't wait to hear about your plans and eventually see your costumes, not to mention find out what your sister's going to be!! This time I'll know all about Pop from my trip!!

It is nice to live so close! I can't imagine what it will be like if I ever move farther away from WDW! :guilty: When my sister and I were much younger and my family had APs, my parents would pick us up from school Friday afternoon and we'd just drive down and spend the weekend in Disney about once a month! Hopefully someday soon I'll be able to make a normal trip. But these short trips are good, too! Sometimes you just need a Disney fix! It's going to be tough finding stuff for our costumes. I'm planning on dressing in Belle's blue provincial town ensemble, so I need to start searching. Yes, DBF will make a great Gaston! He does a really great impression of him! I've been throwing around ideas with my sister for her costume, but nothing has stuck yet.

I'm hoping to do the Disney College Program in Fall 2010 after I graduate. One of my fears is that I'll get sick of it! :scared1:

I had to come over and say hi!

Glad to have you here! How are you? I hope you'll stick around! And I'm still working my way through your TR so far! I wish I could just spend more time on the DIS instead of being bothered with classes this summer. :surfweb:

Wow..you're right..we do sound a lot alike from what I've read about you so far!

Ugh, I did a summer class a few years ago and hated every minute of it. LOL.

Ok so you have seriously just made me hate you! Ugh, weekend trips once a month!! So unfair!! Yeah I only get my disney fixt once a year, thank you very much! I'm sure you'll be able to find something. Are you looking to make it yourself or find something online cause I'm sure you can find some costume sites. And things might be cheaper now that's it's not near Halloween. Hmmm, what's your sister's favorite disney movie? I'd love to do the college program but I'm afraid it's too late for me! Oh well maybe I can get a job as an RN in disney!! That would be pretty cool!! I doubt you could get sick of it!! And hey if you start feeling that way go on a vacation someplace else for a year. That's what my family's doing next year. They want to do something different so we've decided to go to Hilton Head.

Cool, I live about 3 hours away from Hilton Head! And if it makes you better, I don't really remember any of those weekend trips! :rotfl2: Bits and pieces, but I was too young to remember much.

I haven't decided yet where I should start looking for a costume. I might look around some thrift stores and see if any blouses or jumper dresses (is that what they're even called?) jump out at me. I wonder if I'd be able to dye something if it's not the right color. As for shoes, I'm going to try and find some black sketcher mary janes or something similar. I figure since I'll be doing lots of walking, I should get shoes with more support than typical flats for my feet. I've started searching online for some pre-made costumes, but everything that I've found is Belle's gold ballgown.

Maybe the area needs RNs! Rob always talks about wanting to be a Disney lifeguard.

Laura's favorite Disney movie is Aladdin, I think. I suggested that she go as Alice since she's already blonde, but she wasn't receptive to the idea. She has a crush on Joe Jonas, so I told her she could always get a cut-out of him and go as his girlfriend. He could even have his own poncho for Splash Mountain! Donald is by far her favorite character, but I don't think she'll want to dress up as him.

Ok seriously I'm moving to where you live!! It seems like the perfect spot!! Hope your costume search goes better. I'll keep my eyes open and if I see anything I'll let you know. I get bored sometimes so if I do I'll see if I can find anything online for ya. Probably a good idea about the shoes. Actually some mary janes would work really well with the costume! Shouldn't be too hard to find course you can never find things when you need them!! Hey Aladdin is Ian's favorite movie too!! Hmm, probably doesn't want to do the whole Jasmine thing huh. Haha, I love the Joe Jonas idea, made me actually laugh outloud!! Yeah donald, not the most appealing (or comfortable) character to dress as! How about another princess or a pirate?

Ugh, I did a summer class a few years ago and hated every minute of it. LOL.

I like one of my summer classes, the but second one of the day is BORING. There's no discussion or anything, just the professor lecturing for two hours. Those don't work well for me in terms of being able to concentrate. But after Friday, I'll be done! And BAM, six credit hours in one month! What did you get your degree in?

I'll have to ask her about any other ideas. I think she'd be more open to something pirate-y than something princess-y. She joked that she could bring her guitar and the Joe cut-out and go as Taylor Swift, ha! If you see anything, please let me know! I've seen a few things on ebay and etsy, but they're waaaay out of my price range! So I think the only way to really get what I want is to put it together myself if I can't find something affordable.

Never heard of the DCP. Tell me more

Never heard of the DCP. Tell me more

Here is the official DCP website. To describe it simply, it's a paid internship at Disney (either Disneyland or Disney World) designed for college students. If you go to the College Board (linked on the DIS homepage) lots of current CP'ers and alumni discuss the program and different aspects of it. Should be lots of info for you!

Oh my gosh, I can't stand it when all the professor does is lecture!

I'm still in school...I'll have my Bachelor's in December with a Major in Psychology and a Minor in Sociology. Then, in January, I'll be starting my Master's program in Career Counseling.

How awesome that you're graduating soon! I graduate in May with a Bachelor's in History, I can't wait!

And lecture-only classes are so boring. Even if the subject matter is really interesting to me, it's just not a format that I prefer. I like that about my other summer class. There's a lot of lecture, but we also discuss a lot, which helps the time fly by and the material stay with me.

thank godness for fall breaks and disney trips:) how exciting!! I love MNSSHP!! and disney in the fall:) you and your boyfriend make a adorable couple:) thats so great that he loves disney also:) its so nice to have a travel buddy that enjoys the sames things you do:) I cannot wait to read more!! I also love your costume ideas~ you are going to have to take pics of those for sure:)

I just booked our room at POP!

I spent some time yesterday looking around to see if there were any room-only discounts for our time frame before I booked. There were some for October-December, but I figured that since it was a holiday weekend we didn't stand much chance of getting a discount. So I quoted our reservation on the WDW site, and the total came to about $260. To me, this is a lot for just two nights. Let me fill you in on the original plan!

We were just going to stay somewhere near the WDW gates on I-4 for two nights. I found a Ramada for about $42 a night, which was fine with me! As nice as it would be to use the buses, I didn't mind the driving back and forth if it would save us some money on the resort. Then my mom offered to pay for us to stay on property for two nights in a Value as an early Christmas gift. :yay: So anyway, I quoted the price of $260, $115 a night plus tax since it's a weekend, and was feeling like this was too much.

Yesterday I found a discount code but like I said, I wasn't confident that it would apply to our time frame. Then this evening, I decided to go ahead and book it anyway. I checked the DIS, and found another code that DID apply to our dates, although it wasn't as much of a discount as the first one I found. So I quoted it quickly, and it shaved $70 off of our entire reservation! $84 a night for two nights plus tax! :teacher: I still feel like this is a lot, but my mom really wanted to pay for us to stay on property (a big part of this is that she's just a worrier no matter how old her babies are, and felt more relieved about us being there if we were on property). So I booked it! :yay: Truth be told I'm more excited about staying at POP than I would be if we were staying at Ramada. I do love being completely immersed in the Disney atmosphere. :wizard: Since we'll have so little park time, being able to use the buses to go anywhere else around the World we want whenever will help make the trip feel longer.

Aw, thank you! Autumn is probably my favorite time of year, and I don't think I've been to Disney during fall in at least a decade, if not longer. I'm so excited to see it all done up for Halloween! And for certain, lots of pictures will be taken! :goodvibes I hope our costumes all come together nicely by then!

Thanks for reading! :thumbsup2

Haha, not sure how her guitar would like the rides but what a funny idea!! Yeah, why no place can have cheaper things is beyond me but I'll do my best!!

Congrats!! I hate staying off property, it's so much more disney when you stay on property!!

Hopping on over - it is fun to hear about a trip without a little one - LOL!! (I love my princess, but I would have fun with adults only too!!) I will live vicariously through you!!
