Bella Italia/Italy and the Amalfi Coast – Completed 8/29/16

I wish the trip had scheduled a trip to the top of the Duomo in Florence. Looks like it would be a great view. We never made it up there because the lines were too long when we tried. If I were doing it again I would try to reserve a time before the trip and do it on the afternoon we arrived in Florence. With a reservation you can pass most of the line.

I climbed the Florence Duomo on my Viva Italia last year, and even with scheduled time, you're probably looking at 1-2 hrs total for your climb. It's narrow, and one way up/down. Traffic is very very slow. And it's a long climb, especially treacherous at the end. The views are lovely though...

I just wanted to explain why it's not scheduled as part of the tour. It's not an easy or quick climb.

Very good point Rapunzellover. In my opinion the view from the Piazzale Michelangelo is still the best view of Florence. And it's a GREAT trip any way you look at it!

Yes, we stopped at the Piazzale on my Viva trip. Amazing view. And I do highly recommended the duomo climb and Giotto's bell tower. But you chose the right one to focus on.

We did this trip a few years ago and loved it! I liked seeing the picture of Marcello!! He was awesome. Our other guide was Anibal, who (last we saw) works at the Magic Kingdom. I believe he trains new employees, but I could be wrong. We stopped by last year to say hi and he was there.
