Believe Key Sold Out

dang it! I got the names of the tickets mixed up. Those name totally throw me off. I was looking at the $949 one that just became unavailable.

Do you have any recommendations for anything that we should do given our situation?

Your situation is a bit complex due to you owning DVC. It seems like your June 2022 and May 2023 dates are pretty much set. So most likely, you'll just have to wait a bit to see what the Magic Key situation is for June 2022. If they're available, you get keys. If they're not, you do tickets. If you get the keys, you can go again in October but if you can't, then you don't.

You could also ask yourself: If you don't go to Disneyland, would you have another use for the DVC points? For example, if you couldn't get Believe Keys, would you prefer to go to Aulani or WDW instead? Or would you cancel the vacation completely and try to rent out the points? If you're already set on going to Disneyland, there isn't much else to do other than wait for the potential of the Keys coming back.

I blame Disney making it confusing on purpose 🤣. That's the Believe key price (the one this thread is about and the second tier pass available). The names are ridiculous.

Honestly? I don't know. Goes without saying this is uncharted territory.

But if it were me in your position, I would hold out with only cancelable reservations and hold out until the deadline (whatever that may be) to cancel things without penalty. I just stay at a regular off site hotels, though, with generous cancellation policies and drive so my situation is different. Then just hope sales restart before my trip :confused3

I would say buy as soon as available again if available again before your trip. The vouchers are good from a year from date of purchase. I would not wait. I would not rely on upgrading tickets as that has clearly burned several people already.

Yes, very confusing names!!! I will definitely be watching to jump on purchasing if/when they become available again. Thanks for letting me know to be careful about thinking I can upgrade regular tix.

DVC has kind of locked us in and our dates are pretty much set. We alternate between going to WDW and Disneyland and we have not gotten out to Disneyland since 2018. We would have gone in 2020 or this year, but with Disneyland closed it has been impossible so we desperately want to get back. I have recently just rented some AKV points, but we miss VGC so are pretty certain that we will go back no matter what happens.

If you're a blue card holder, it maybe worthwhile to reach out to MS on this, especially if VGC is your home resort.

Like others have said, vouchers are good for a year. If happen chance reopens, buy immediately; don't wait to play the upgrade game.

The new-AP names are stupid, I just call them AP1-4 now (top tier to bottom tier). Darn focus group!

It's not like there's any reason Signature would be better than Deluxe or vice versa.

Hong Kong's naming makes the most sense: Silver, Gold, Platinum. Shanghai probably second: Crystal, Sapphire, Diamond. Then Paris: Discovery, Magic Flex, Magic Plus, Infinity. And then the US parks are just completely arbitrary.

I guess TDR's annual passport names also made sense but their system was different: Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea, 2-Park.

I agree - but at least the previous naming system denoted function, and was in line with non-Disney offerings.

SoCal - self explanatory
Flex - you better be flexible!
Deluxe - probably the most arbitrary of the bunch
Premium - was the premium offering for premium price

Signature - denotes the distinct/unique/top level offering of a company. Like a restaurant’s signature dish, or the Visa Signature credit cards that are typically higher tier. I even think Chick-Fil-a uses “Signature status” for high rollers over there, lol.

The new names look like it was amateur hour in the marketing department and they just asked random people on Harbor Blvd for names.

I would have liked something based on jewels and metal as well based on descending market value per ounce: Diamond > Platinum > Gold > SoCal

Probably trying to be aspirational instead of status. Dream, believe, enchant - all aspirational goals vs purchasing privilege like say --- VIP Tour

@TexasErin Based on your length of visit, any MK plan might be risky anyway since you can only reserve 6 days at a time. So your last 3 days would be at the mercy of availability while you are there.

But I agree with others that it's likely things will become available again (maybe at higher prices) and other changes may happen in the next few months anyway. Definitely a wait and see situation.

Thanks! I have only done a little bit of research, so I wasn’t sure. Would the staying on site “bucket” give us more days if we are staying ten nights at a time, assuming my wait list for my last two one-night waitlists comes through?

DLR doesn't offer length of stay reservations like WDW does. But you will have access to the hotel bucket which seems to keep reservations now longer than the other buckets.
