Mom is considering this trip a belated birthday gift for her birthday since we didn't get to do something extra special for her this year. She's 70

Her birthday was in July.

Would it be OK to still get her a birthday pin, when it's so far from the actual date? Or perhaps just the generic "I'm celebrating"?
