I didn't find any thread like this while doing a search... so forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong spot.

This is the Vegetarian thread! But everybody can join in! Where are the best places to eat, or to snack at WDW for us meatless folks? Sometimes it can be hard to find a quick meal or snack that's vegetarian without a sit down reservation. So, if you all have some favorite places, please let us know!

Maybe this thread would be better off at the restaurant board, just b/c this section of the board is supposed to be ONLY for peoples' reviews of their recent dining, not so much for questions about where to eat. I apologize if I was mistaken

Well, as we're a family soon heading down with a son who is vegetarian, I've been thinking alot about this. I can certainly recommend the mozzarella/tomato sandwich at Earl of Sandwich at DTD! It is fabulous!

Another great hidden gem (if you eat fish) is Tusker House at AK. They have a great salmon on rice plate as a counter service option. Quite tasty!

When we were there in June, the only meal I was unhappy with was a marinated vegetable salad that's served at Pinnochio Haus. You can get it with or without cold meat, but honestly, it was disgusting! I should have taken it back. I still wonder if the marinated vegetables had gone bad or something...it was so salty it was unedible!

I moved this thread to the Restaurant section. Happy eating! popcorn::

I have been trying to plan to accomodate the 14 year old girl we are bringing. She gave up meat 3 months ago but really doesn't understand about the extra nutrients she will need. (her mother just gives her regular meals but without the meat portion. I am really looking forward to her seeing how great and varied vegetarian meals can be.

I have read on several reviews that Columbia Harbour House has a great Vegetarian Sandwich... Is it the Lighthouse Sandwich? I think it has hummus and broccoli slaw?

Does anyone have experience eating Veg at... Hoop Dee Doo? Or at Ohana's? Thanks! :thumbsup2

Boma, Boma, Boma. I can't say enough about that place. We eat there at least twice during every visit, we love it that much. And I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian (so no fish, shellfish or poultry).

Some of my other favorite TS's include Rose & Crown, Marrakesh and Kona, but I have yet to find a TS restaurant that didn't have something delicious.

For CS's, I like the Tusker House at AK and the ABC Commissary at MGM, and I'm looking forward to trying Columbia Harbour House.

www.allearnet.com has menus and recipes, along with a couple of really good articles on being vegetarian at WDW.

HDDR-- :crazy2: Although I mentioned being a vegetarian when I made the reservation, I didn't make it a point to call the restaurant itself. I naively assumed they would have something readily available, since being a vegetarian is pretty common these days. But even the meat eaters in the family didn't like HDDR, so I'm not sure it would have made any difference.

This time, we're doing Ohana, and I plan on calling a few days ahead to make sure they'll have something special for me (I've heard rumors of tofu and veggie skewers--yumm!).

yes, i love that sandwich! but i don't like the vegetarian chili there.

i also like to get a fruit and cheese plate at the little cart outside KS in AK. a refreshing and not too heavy snack for a hot day (but obviously not for those who don't eat dairy!)
