I've been going back and forth since my booking this weekend for a Labor Day cruise on the Dream. I originally booked an 8C OV cabin guarantee...but I have modified and switched back twice already as I REALLY enjoy a verandah cabin but didn't want to spend the extra $$. (I have other cruises booked this year on other cruise lines, so spending so much on vacation was stressing me out..but my DD wants a Disney cruise for her birthday gift)
I've spend the majority of the morning (in between doing loads of laundry) checking out the available verandah staterooms and deciding whether the extra cost would be worth it.
Finally, I decided to just stick with the OV and save the extra money for other things she wants to do on the cruise, but for the heck of it, I checked to see if the Verandah rooms went to GT yet...and LOW and BEHOLD...they have 5E GT rates available and at a reduced price!! My FAVORITE category as we had one last cruise, and booked it's mirror stateroom for our next cruise in 2017.
So now I am hoping, since it's just two of us, that we'll get the same stateroom we had in 2014 which was 10158, a corner aft room with a HUGE verandah! Fingers crossed!!

I paid the whole thing in full, as this was my actual dream scenario!!

Being indecisive is pretty much the story of my life. You didn't book a GT rate you booked 5E GTY. DCl will toss out GTY rates at reduced prices. You will either get a 5E room or an upgrade. Congrats on getting a price you are happy with.

Ok...I thought GTY was the same thing...as it was at a lower price than the verandah cabins offered at regular rates...It's how I booked my last cruise with them and was VERY happy with the result. Even if I don't get deck 10, which I loved, I'll still get an extended verandah so I can't see how I would be disappointed, as the little increase in price, got me the stateroom that I wanted.

You would not be booking a cat with a VGT rate. You would just be guaranteed a verandah. It would say verandah guaranteed with restrictions. It would also have to be paid in full at time of booking and be completely unrefundable. VGT rates don't usually come out until after the paid in full date. Your not guaranteed an extended verandah. You will get a cat 5E OR better. There is a thread with GTY room assignments. You should check it out.

Ah, I see, but with my booking, I am guaranteed a 5E or better, right?

Rightt. I added on to my previous post. You should check out the GTY thread. When I book with an interline rate it's always gty. I usually get the cat I booked. On our up coming cruise I got a big upgrade. A lot of people that book 5E gty don't want an upgrade though. I've never been unhappay with my room whether it's a GT rate or gty. I think it's kind of exciting to see what I get. I've always gotten better rooms than if I had chosen them myself.

Yes, same here, I prefer to not get an upgrade, but I rolled the dice...so we'll see....I'm just happy to be going on another Disney cruise...and looking forward to seeing my DD's face when she opens her birthday gift to find the DCL documents.

When we booked 5e Gty in 2013 we were given a 4c. Nice upgrade but I really wanted to try the 5e. Booked a 5E last year and loved it!

And just like that, it's gone, 5E GTY no longer available for booking...so it was only available for a few hours, I just checked. Does that mean they most likely sold out of that category?
