I know other people are having much of the same experiences and I know the Covid is the cause, but
I have never been through such a hassle as I have experience with Disney and DVC. For their lack of communications to their members.

I had to use my points for my use year 2018 or lose them. I cancelled my July 4-11 reservation because the parks would not be open.
Ok so I moved it to the end of September because 230 is a big loss.

I booked my resort and then secured my airfare and the next day I find out I can't get park tickets for the rest of my family. Oh boy what a headache

I managed to buy 2 annual passes, but still some of my family had no tickets and some of the other members of the family had 5 day hoopers that they are going to use. Big money loss for the hopper part of the ticket. Sold something that now can't be used.

I am 70 and I am a bit worried about catching the virus as Florida's virus is very high. Now that there is no luggage delivery I an really scared and now put in a bad situation at the bag carousel at MCO with no social distancing.

I have spent hours on hold and still was not given updated info.

This may be my last trip due to the danger I am being put in and the Magic is long gone.

My only thought is that the luggage carousel likely isn't anything at all like it normally would be. You also can just hang back and wait until most or all other people have retrieved their luggage.

I plan to just wait back until things are clear. But I think there were issue with who gets them or something plus not wanting to enter rooms.

I had thought about doing only carry on but want to bring too much hand sanitizer to meet TSA.

If park hopping is still not allowed by the time of your trip, they can go to Guest Relations and get refunds for the hopper part of the tickets. And regular tickets are available again, so if they’d rather hold onto their hoppers, they could buy basic tickets now.

If it makes you feel any better, Orlando Airport has been as dead as ever over the past few months. I expect it will be similarly dead in September. I doubt you will be fighting tons of people to pick up your luggage. If it's too crowded, you can always hang back and pick yours up after the crowd has dispersed as well.

More than 12 oz?

If you are that worried and it won't be fun, just lose the points. They are points.

No one can force you to go. Yes, you may lose points. But you won't be out all the other costs, the stress, the not having fun.

Points are a sunk cost. But they are just points.

I agree. It's not absolutely necessary to go, especially if you feel unsafe doing so. And rather than lose them completely, you could either rent them out or transfer to RCI. We have banked 2018 points that we would lose in a few months since we're not comfortable going for a while, so we're going to be figuring that out soon.

I have a January trip planned. I hope the airport luggage transfer is back by then, it is really a nice service. It won't be a deciding factor as to whether I go, that will depend upon the virus, but I will miss the service.

I'm not 70 and found myself, like you, stressing about the risk points of every point. And there are many.

I gave my points to a confirmed survivor. That's a person who can have a good time, not me, I'd just be worried. I hope you make a choice with your points that gives you peace. Disney is being very cool with refunds and such right now.

The luggage portion of the airport didn't seem awful to me, in Florida or otherwise. Don't go hover in the first loop with EVERYone else. People there are all grouped up, pushing past each other to grab their bags. Go down a loop or two where only a handful of folks are waiting. Send as few people as you need to pick up your items, to help keep space clear for others. I also carried both hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes. I wiped off the touch points on my luggage when we picked it up, then sanitized my hands. Boarding was WAY worse than luggage.

First thing is first. Take a deep breath and slow down. Now, do it again...

Like others have said - if you do not feel safe. you should not go. It's that simple. They are just points. Write them off. It's better to loose a few points then your life, and it sounds like you are just throwing good money after bad (spending more money because you don't want to take the hit of money already spent). That's a bad investment and neither you or your family will enjoy the trip.

If you do choose to go, most of these are addressable issues.

* You CAN purchase park tickets for your entire family, and assuming you are staying on property, you can still secure park reservations for the entire family. You have been able to do this for a week now, so I am not sure who told you that you can't, but that is no longer accurate. Just go to Disneyworld.com and click the cart button. The only thing you can not purchase is Annual Passes.

The good news is that you can get a refund for the Park Hopper portion of the ticket by calling or visiting Guest Relations. So this does not have to be a loss!

Read above... If you are worried, you should NOT go. If you do go, this is not really a problem. The carousels are not very busy right now. It's easy to find a place that is not packed, and if you want, just hang back for a bit. But overall, that's not that bad. Having said that, I would strongly recommend that you bring some wet wipes in a baggie in your carryon. As soon as you pull your bag off the conveyor, WIPE IT DOWN, with careful considerations to the handle and zipper. Then use another wipe for your hands and throw the wipes away.

After you get to your resort room, WIPE IT DOWN AGAIN. Just in case it came in contact with other contaminated bags or surfaces during transit. Then wash your hands with soap and water.

I am so sorry you feel that way. Remember that you do not have to go. If you feel in danger, cancel your trip and take the loss. It's really not that big a deal and I would not throw away good money (airfare, tickets, meals, etc...) just because you do not want to take a hit to your points.

The magic is still there, but just like the rest of the world, it's taken a hit from the virus and it needs a little time to grow and recover. My advice would be to take a break this year, and let both you and the magic have a little breathing room. But if you do decide to go, just take a few deep breaths and think it through. These are just small issues, and unfortunately the hand the world has been dealt. This is not all Disney's fault and they are doing what they can (just like the rest of us) to try to keep everyone safe.

Not to dissuade you Sandi, because I will probably be doing the same thing myself, but from what I am told there is A LOT of hand sanitizer in the parks. Like it's practically EVERYWHERE. I think it was AJ from DFB that recommended you do not bring any into the parks because you just won't need it. It's like at the entrance and exit and every single ride and every area.

Having said that, my trip will be for 7 days, and I just can't fit that much into a carry on, especially since I will have other liquids and gels. So I will likely throw a bottle of two of sanitizer in as well. Read what I put in the other thread though. Keep some hand wipes available. Use them:
* When you sit in your seat on the plane, wipe the tray table, seat back in front of you, hand rests, etc.
* when you pick up your bag, wipe the handles (and a quick wipe of the entire bag) as soon as you get it. Then throw that wipe away and use another wipe on your hands (or sanitizer or soap and water).
* after you get to your room, wipe your bag AGAIN. Then throw that wipe away and wash your hands with soap and water.

Be safe!

If that is the only thing holding you back possibly ship it and carry the max on with you as well?

More for other areas around the resort and stuf...there are six of us going and I said I’d be the one with the luggage and the rest can do carry on,

Others are flying in at different times and I am the earliest. Plus it will make DH happier to know I am armed up with all my safety gear!

I am set up to travel with a small backpack and my Owner's Locker, but luggage claim seems like one of just many risk points, if you are concerned about getting sick. I'd be more worried about the plane, or the bus, honestly. It's why I'm not going. :(

I sure hope Bell Services is still moving Owner's Lockers around. I'm not sure how my family member will be able to deal with that beast otherwise.

I am not DVC, but am 70 too:) I can see your confusion and concern. I think maybe, maybe, things will straighten out somewhat by September. I think Disney is going trial and error now on a weekly basis to see how things work.
As far as going to Florida with the high cases of covid? I don't think I would but I don't have points to lose either. We usually go once a year, but are skipping this year and probably next year too. I don't think anyone can predict or plan what will happen. I do think Disney will stay open because to close again at this point would gain them nothing. I hope you get help from DVC to work this out and good luck, if you do decide to go.

I had a plan the only part of the trip I am fretting about is MCO airport and I could make a dash through it and hit Disney World where I would feel safe. Now with no luggage transfer that changes my anxiety level.
Oh well I guess there isn't much more left to take away.
