Has anyone been to Disney around the first week of December? What are the lines like at that time? Is it crowded?

Also, what types of special events are going on and will they have all of the Christmas decorations up?

Lastly, is it likely that they will come out with discounts for this time period?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to talk my family into it!

:)

We took a spur of the moment trip last December during the first week. Not only did we get a PIN code rate, but the airlines had terrific savings also.

Weather can be hot or cold, so you need to be prepared for everything. We were coming down from New England and even my kids only found it warm enough to swim on one day.

All the holiday celebrations are going on at that time. MGM has the Osborne Family lights, Epcot has the Candlelight Processional, Santa's around the world and a special showing of Illuminations. The MK has Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party on select evenings. This is a separate ticket event with the Christmas parade, special wishes fireworks, holiday shows, bands, etc. All the resorts are decorated and the parks play holiday music. We found crowds to be fairly light during the day and we've never seen Epcot so quiet. I wouldn't hesitate to go again during this time of year.

Beginning of December is GREAT! For the most part it is the time of year that there is the lowest crowds, but it has picked up in the last few years. Be warned that Pop Warner is scheduled Dec 4-10. Although their being there doesn't greatly effect the parks, it will effect the value resorts and some of the moderates.

Christmas decorations will be up in all the resorts, parks, and DD. There will be special events like MVMCP, tree lighting ceremonies, carolers, Christmas music, and Santa. The parks are not open as late as other times of the year, but with fewer crowds it is not a problem.

Early December is the value season. As far as any specials coming out, from your lips to God's ears! I'm hoping for this to happen too.

Have a great trip! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

It is a wonderful time of the year to go to WDW. When our children were little, we'd fly down on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and start our WDW trips Sunday morning. I'm looking forward to doing that again one of these days.

My children always swam. The pools are heated and for those of us from the North, the temps were great. The weather can vary day to day though.

Be sure to enjoy the Candlelight Processional. It is so beautiful. :sunny:

Have fun and happy planning!

Crowded beyond belief??? Just curious. I'm trying to talk my friend into a summer vacation instead of trying to go to WDW during a school vacation for 1 week. They've never been to WDW and I know 1 week will not be enough time.
