Beginning 9/13 All DCL Cruisers to Bahamas Must Take Covid Test at Port

Try an airport for a rapid test. They sometimes subsidize testing to drive traffic.

There is a clinic outside of Terminal 6 at LAX and the pricing is $125 for results in 3-5 hours with a Rapid PCR. However, I wouldn't recommend to anyone to go to that airport to save $25 :)

Strangely - the Carbon Health clinic at Lindberg Field(aka San Diego Airport) doesn't say what method their test is, which isn't helpful when DCL wants a very specific test. Dang...we should probably start a thread on testing locations, types, and prices...

Yowza for sure. The PCR test is free here. My daughter had two tests in August, different places, one was Rite Aide. She had her results in 12 hours.
I believe insurance will cover the cost, unless you're testing for travel purposes only. I suspect that insurance will not pay for 2 hour tests in any case. My son just got tested (PCR) prior to leaving for college and we were not billed at the clinic. I guess I'll find out soon enough if my insurance covers it. 🤣

My daughter did not have to provide insurance information, so no way to bill insurance. One of the clinics was run by a local church as part of their community outreach.

My son and I tested at a Walgreens for travel to Hawaii with no out of pocket expense and insurance wasn't billed.

Totally agree. There are no mass gatherings inside, except in restaurants, where people take off their masks anyways. On our recent cruise, we hardly ran into anyone inside, so if everyone is now tested before arrival and tested at port or tested at port and vaccinated, it all makes you wonder. The sooner masks are gone, the better.
Kids are still in the clubs together, people are gathered in rooms to play games, bingo, etc.

With Disney performing COVID tests at the port and denying boarding for any party with positive results, then can we ditch the masks...The ship is COVID free.
Covid infections have an incubation period before they will show up on any tests. So while a negative result from every passenger is a promising sign, it is far from a guarantee that the ship will be Covid-free. Given the contagiousness of the Delta variant, it is likely that no cruise will be Covid-free for quite a while.

Greetings Cruise Lovers,
With Disney performing COVID tests at the port and denying boarding for any party with positive results, then can we ditch the masks, have other folks besides our party at the dinner room table, get close to the Disney characters, and other countless items lost.
Does that make sense?
The ship is COVID free.
Just something that pop in my head.
Thanks and take care,
glen
Ummm..not even close. There is an incubation period of days, testing isn't 100% accurate. I think people need to accept the reality that masks and travel adjustments will be a part of everyday life for some time to come. And with the MU variant starting to spread, we aren't even close to what life was pre-COVID.

Yes! Please be careful people, both in the ship and at home with your family.

Does anyone know if we self swab or they have medical people swabbing us??
I can’t imagine having enough staff to swab 1000+ guests and be be able to get on the ship the same day??🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

The previous tests for unvaccinated guests were self-swab. The new testing process has not started.

At the port? And then we have to pay for it? Why not allow us to bring a negative PCR test to the port? This might be the final straw, I don’t want the anxiety of flying down for a cruise only to then test positive in Florida seconds away from boarding the ship for vacation. Let us test the day before or at least not at the port so we can stay home and not go thru all that extra hassle.
It reads like it is no-cost at the port. However, by the time I typed this, it is possible at some point Disney will require us to bring a negative PCR test to the port, then get tested again before we board. Just my opinion, but that is what many other cruise lines are doing right now. It is very difficult because they are only giving you 2 days prior to boarding to get this test done.

Soooo.... anyone starting to feel like maybe they are unhealthily addicted to DCL? A couple days ago I was like, this is nuts, no way will I cruise under these circumstances because it's too high risk of having the vacation fall through and being stranded--it was much more of a sure thing when all that was needed for the adults was proof of vaccination.

But now I'm like... hmmm, there are still good cabins available on October cruises.... hmmmmm........

I've long ago accepted my obsession. Admitting it is the first step on the road to recovery. 🤣

YES! I was all ready to wait on hold forever on Sept 3 to cancel my upcoming cruise for fear of getting stranded at the port, but I never even dialed the number!
