Okay, so does anyone know if Garden Grocer delivers beer and/or wine? We won't have a rental car and won't be able to stop at Publix or wherever on our way from the airport to the fort. I guess we could always get a cab to a grocery store if absolutely nec. but it would be nice to have some cold ones in the cabin fridge!

Any info. or suggestions are appreciated!

According to information posted on this thread (click on this link) and what I have heard here and there, Garden Grocer will, indeed, deliver alcohol, but you have to call them and make arrangements for that.

If you are able to confirm that with GG, please let us know, as others have been faced with the same issue.

Yes, Garden Grocer will deliver beer & wine. :thumbsup2 They always get me my Strongbow fix!! You can add the request in the notes section when you place your order. You also have to either be there when they deliver or make arrangements ahead of time to send them a copy of your ID so they can verify that you are 21.

I'm already thinking of wrapping my big chef's knife in cardboard along with a decent cutting board and packing both in the checked luggage so that I'll have them to cook with in the cabin. I wish I could figure out how to bring my crockpot! Rolling bottles of wine in bubble wrap to bring along is going too far...

I'll call them and post what I find out.

But how do you know what stuff they carry? I looked at their website under beverages but couldn't find beer or wines listed. BTW, what's Strongbow?

I called Garden Grocer and discovered:

1. If you set up an account and login they save the contents of your cart for 90 days.

2. As others mention, there is a place to put a message when you check out. The GG woman told me that you list your requests in that message area and they will pick up beer/wine/liquor as a courtesy to customers. You just write in what you want and they'll contact your re. availability and pricing. So I guess to be safe you should just list common wine labels in order to get something you're familiar with...

3. Re. delivery. You give GG a 2-hour window for delivery. The GG driver stocks your cabin with your groceries even if you haven't yet arrived. The FW folks just let the GG driver into your pre-assigned cabin. She didn't say anything about needing to check ID so I assume it's not an issue. I guess they assume that most kids under 21 aren't booking FW cabins!

2goofycampers, thanks for the fact sheet link. Hopefully the cabin we get will have all of that stuff available and in decent shape!

Thank you for posting this!

This will help a lot of folks who have the same question you did.

As far as your cabin utensils and such, if you are missing anything that is supposed to be there, all it takes is a phone call, and a castmember will bring it to you!

Yep, you've got it exactly right. :) They are usually very good about finding things for you, and if you put something they can't find they'll call you.

Oh, and Strongbow is a UK hard cider. It's very dry, nothing like the overly sweet american ones. It's on tap at the Rose & Crown if you ever want to try it. ;)

The knife is a good choice for serious cooking. Also there are no grilling utensils or a pizza pan/cookie sheet.
