To cut some of the weight in our TT we are limiting the amout of beer we are packing. In PA cases can only be purchased at a beer distributor, so I am not sure who can sell more than a six pack in FL. I am sure some one must know of a "beer store" than has a very large varity (other than the watered down domestics) of beer and how to get there from the Fort.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can buy more than a 6pk almost any wear Walmart, Publix Winn Dixie all gas stations we never travel with beer or food we just get it when we get there

Yes, I think beer and wine can be purchased at grocery stores; however, for spirits/hard liquor I think you have to go to a designated store. Seems to me there was a liquor store (ABC?) in front of the Winn Dixie (down from the Crossings shopping center).

I always found PA's beer distribution system to be a bit strange. In my mind, beer should be readily available everywhere. Grocery stores, Walmarts, places of work, vending machines, churches, elementary schools....should there really be a limit? :confused3

The last time I was in Pennsylvania, I also found the beer rules odd.

I remember that I had to go into a bar to buy a six pack, but unless I am dreaming this up, I think that you could get a beer from the drive through at Pizza Hut and Wendy's. :confused3

Anyway, in Florida, you can buy a beer almost anywhere, and you can get a six pack, twelve pack, eighteen pack, or whatever.

Here is a map that shows a secret exit from the Fort to the real world:

To help you visualize further, here are some screen caps from the Orange County Property Appraiser's website.

You can buy beer at 7-11, Walgreens, and of course the ABC Liquor store that you see on the maps. Also, right next to the ABC is a big Winn Dixie grocery store which has all kinds of beer.

Also, on WDW property the Hess gas stations sell beer at way more reasonable prices than at the Fort Trading Posts.

I could not believe how strange the laws were when I moved to this backwards state. I get many weird looks when I tell people I need to go on a packy run. If you are buying more than a 6 pack you have to go to a beer distributor. You can buy six packs at bars and restraunts, but not corner stores or state stores. If you want anything more than beer you need to go to a state store for all of the other adult beverages. Heck it wasn't until a couple of years ago they outlawed open containers in vehicles.

Yes you can buy 6 packs from restraunts that serve beer that have a drive through, heck they even have drive through beer distributors that you dont even have to get out of you vehicle to purchase you favorite case of beer.

All of this talk of beer has made me very thirsty. It's gotta be 5 o'clock somewhere right?

Seriously? You are packing less beer to save weight?
Have you considered limiting some non-essential items, like food and clothing?

If you don't mind stopping on the way in, there is a Total Wine off of I-4 (assuming you come in that way). I have never been to the Orlando location, but I shop at one frequently at home. They stock the better domestics here, including Stone, Bells and Dogfish Head etc. I don't know how long it would take you to get there from the fort, or how far you are willing to drive.

Their beer catalog is in the left window pane.

So you have just joined the boards, and one of your first posts is entirely about beer? :rolleyes1

You'll fit in just fine around here. Welcome! :lmao: :dance3:

Goodings grocery store at the Crossroads usually has a good selection of spirits. They are higher than Walmart, but closer. It is at the end of Hotel Plaza Blvd, just off Disney Property.

When you go out of the campground, make a left onto Vista Blvd., go all the way to the 4 way stop sign (about 1.5 miles), make a right, you will travel another block to a stop sign, turn right onto Buena Vista Drive for about 1.5 miles and you will come to a 3 way major intersection controlled by a light. Turn left onto Hotel Plaza Blvd and go to the end of it at Hwy 435. Go straight across and into this shopping area, Goodings is on the left. Also, if you turn back left (East) onto Hwy 435, there are pharmacies, a minor emergency clinic and other shops in that area.

To me it is easier than getting to Hwy 192 & driving into Kissimmee.

Thank you guys for the kind welcome. These forums were of assistance to us when my family was new to the Fort, now that we have made a few trips I can try to help out where I can. Especially when the topic concerns beer.

Why would anyone want to buy less than a case?

Look at TCDs map - the Alehouse is a great place to eat and drink beer. One of my favs in Orlando.

I don't know when the last time you at Gooding i think they are going out of business. They only had one person working the whole store even the liquor store after waiting 20 min for that guy to finish ring out the others and locking the store to help us with liquor when finally got in the store they only had 20 bottles of stuff i never heard of. So after waiting all that time and paying $23 for a case of beer that we could have gotten at walmart for $16 we ended out at walmart to get rum. Just go to Walmart for everthing
