That the refillable mugs at Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are not only reusable (for a one time fee of around $5) but are interchangeable for both parks! (This goes for Universal Studios refillables mugs also ..)

Hey thats great to know. I havent been to DW yet but when I go I'll try to remember to post the little things I think people won't remember or know!
Thanks! :thumbsup2

Never knew about looking for hidden Mickeys until reading this board. Next trip, we'll see how many we can find.

wow, i didnt know almost any of that...

six flags is the same way about chewing gum

I just found out during my last trip this past Fall that the refillable mugs can be used for future trips. We had some at home from years ago and kept them as souveniers.
I would be inclined to buy a new mug anyway if I am staying at a new resort for the souvenier factor but for those of you looking to save a buck; save your mugs and use next time you visit -

Before a debate starts....it is ONLY the cups from Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, Universal Resorts are good forever. And BB/TL you still need to pay for a new UPC code to stick on it for the day.

We have cups from both BB and Typhoon Lagoon from last year. We can use those again.? How do I buy a UPC code sticker? How much do they cost?

From what I read on anothers post....you can buy it wherever they sell the cups and they are I THINK $5.....not a great savings but still a savings to me :)

Someone can correct me if this has changed since our last visit but you can just buy the UPC code sticker that turns the fountain on and put that sticker on ANY cup. You don't have to buy the cup. You can also bring an old mug (or any mug) and just put the sticker on and use it for your sodas.

hookedup - This would mean that you could take your current stay resort mug to the water park and buy a new UPC sticker and slap it on that and get refills at that water park?

Now that would be smart to me! Does anyone know if this is true?

they discourage chewing gum in WDW?

Did you find this out by trying to buy some on WDW property? We finally figured this one out on a trip about 10 yrs ago. You cannot buy gum anywhere onsite.

ok, I have never heard about the gum discouraging. Also never heard about the hidden mickeys. Can anyone explain that please?

they don't sell gum because then it would be all over the park- so none of the parks sell it- They don't need to hire anybody to clean it up-- In my expereince people are dirty when they go somewhere. Just because they are not at home or need to clean it- they act like pigs and throw trash anywhere. As to where I heard it- I read in a book about Disney secrets.

im sure the gum is not good for the birds that may try to eat it.
AK will not give you a top or straw to your drink.

although if you look along the parade routes you will see what looks like gum stuck to the ground, its actually sensors for the floats to tell them where to go, it looks like gum so people dont try to pick it up

Another thing I learned previously - you can't bring balloons on the AKL hotel property. You have to check it at the front desk and get it back when you check out of the hotel.

However, many people do bring gum into the parks that they bought outside and some (although substantially less than it could be) ends up on the ground so they still do have people to clean the gum off.

FYI I tried to purchase the UPC sticker for Blizzard beach and was asked when I purchased the mug, I had just purchased the day prior. They called a manager who finally said Yes I could purchase the $5 sticker. It was like going thru the Mug gestapo. They were kind of rude. I dont know why they sell them if they are going to give U such a hard time purchasing them.

I only did this once. The mug still had on the day priors sticker. Yes they did check to see if I was lying. :confused3

a live alligator can be seen in the moat/river along the "boardwalk" from Liberty Tavern over to Thunder Mountain. My son and I saw him for the first time last year. Apparently people throw their half eaten turkey legs in for him to eat. At least that is what one cast member told me when I told him that I had seen an alligator.
