Been away a couple years, is AP still the best way to go?

For a few years in a row, my family and I went to the Polynesian but have not gone in the past two years. We usually stay for about 8 days and nights and had found that it was most economical to get APs and room only reservations.

I have just started to research rates for a planned trip this August, 2006, and find that that may no longer be the case due changes in the rate structure.

Can someone give me some input as to what may be out least expensive way to go? We are planning to go in mid August, 2006, we wish to stay at the polynesian for 8 nights in gv room, we plan to go to the water parks in addition to the theme parks but aren't interested in a meal plan.

We belong to AAA. We probably wouldn't go again in a one year period. Thus, if we got APs it would only be for the one trip. Even with the new pricing, would AP's likely still be the way to go or are some of the packages better values?

Thank you for the help, Joe

I would go for it.. I would book the poly and hope for a discount.. Just don't count on it.. Discounts have been pretty steady lately..I'm getting $133 a night off of a deluxe rsort in April with my AP..If you have the AP you are also able to purchase the DDE card for 60$..It will give you 20% off of most all sit down resturants, bars and a couple of counter service places..If you think you will spend 300$ or more on those sort of meals then it is worth buying the DDE
