Do you still read bedtime stories to your children? We did when our son was little up until he was 8 I think.Ijust wondered in our fast paced world today if this was still part of your family's day. What is yopur childs favorite?Ours loved Jack and The Beanstalk.:earsboy: :sunny:

It has been a while. Since my son lives with my paretns by my choice, many times, my Mom will read part of whatever lit book they are reading (or re-read sections to him to help him retain the info)

I read to my boys 9 & 10 every nite. They get ticked if I don't.

We are reading Artumus Fowl: The Eternity Code now. We read all the Harry Potter books every summer. Read the Series of Unfortunate Events. Holes was good and got us up for the movie.

We read to our boys, 7 and 3 every night. It's either my husband or myself. They love it. The little one always likes "Are you my mothe?" and my big guy loves "Franklin" or something along those lines.

My guys are usually sleeping within 5 minutes after we read to them. It calms them down and gets them ready for sleep.

I will keep on going as long as they let me.

TTFN,
Maria

My dd gets a story just about every night. If I let her stay up past 8:30 then we do not read one but most of the time bedtime is at 8 and she gets a story. It is a wonderful mommy /daughter time that she really looks forward to,

Good for you! Reading to children is the most important thing you can do when they are young.....and don't stop when they start to school. Many, many studies have shown that children who have been read to do much better in reading when it is time for them to learn. Listening to a book helps to learn proper phrasing, inflection, etc. It also helps associate reading with pleasure! Keep reading!

I did up until my two were about 9 & 10 or so, they shared a room then.;)

99.9% of the nights. Only if we've stayed out late and, she falls asleep in the car, do I not read.

Last night I read a new one, 'I love you, stinky face'. The title alone cracked her up!

Lots of other nights tho, she 'reads' to me from memory. She also has been VERY interested in reading the short stories that have words and pictures (in place of the words). Wish I could find more of those, it's definately helped her want to read more. She's 5 and, in Pre-K. :)

I usually read to my girls every night. It is either by grabbing one of their many books, telling a story from memory or just making up a story.
I tell them versions of Little Red Riding Hood, The three little Pigs and a story where they are the Princesses and must save the kingdom
