Bedspreads in Hotel

I KNOW this has been asked before, BUT...I really really really don't like those top spreads on my bed. How do I subtly keep that bedspread from being put back on my clean sheets during my trip? :teeth:

Or, is there any way I can assure that "the bedspread" is brand spankin' new out of the washer? :rotfl2: I have a bit of a germ phobia and those comforters give me the "heebie jeebies."

Was that a loaded question or what?

How long will you be staying at the hotel? Disney does not change the sheets every day so the only day you will have fresh clean sheets will be your first day. And The bedspreads are not laundered between guests room stays. I heard somewhere that hotels normally wash the bedspreads once a month or once every few months, depending on the property and the policy of the property.
If you want a newly laundered spread, you have to ask "mousekeeping" for one.

I wonder if you could request at check in, maybe ask for extra blankets instead. If you left a note for mousekeeping not to replace it, I bet they wouldn't. Febreeze makes an anti-microbial product you could spray as well.

I removed the bedspread the first day we were at the Beach Club & put them in the closet. I left a note for mousekeeping asking them not to replace the spread for our stay with the tip. They made the bed without the spread.

I try not to think about these things but unfortuantely I am now. So being the germaphobic that I am do you think that if I request newly laundered spreads it would happen? I don't want to come across as a jerk, but I do have a fear of stuff

Yep! We do this, too. When we get to the room, we fold up the top bedspread, put it on top of the media cabinet and leave a note on the bed for housekeeping asking that it not be put back on... It makes no sense, but somehow this makes us feel better :rotfl:

if there is a medical reason then they will do a different cleaning.

like severe allergies, asthma, any other type of lung problems.

but just because someone doesn't like it - I don't know.

I have nasty allergies to the dust mite and I will get sick at times. but there cleaning make me worst - the smells.... so I just live with it. I just bring lots of my allergy medicines.

I have a bag of clorox wipes in my luggage to clean the room before my kids go in it (feel better)? :) I was not even CLOSE to being like this before my kids were born (the thought actually never occured to me), but they are former micro-preemies and I get paranoid about germs. I'm much more relaxed now than when they were babies...the thought of taking them into Disney 2 years ago was not even on my radar screen. SO, I'm a teensy bit better since we're leaving in a week. YAY!! :cheer2:

Thanks to the other posters. Yes, I'm going to leave a note for housekeeping. :)

Good ideas, I should have done it. We just stayed at POR, someone prior to us obviouslay ate cheese curls in bed.....bright orange finger prints all over the spread when you folded it down (yes it was gross).I just put it on the floor, they put it back on every day....
I know a manager of a major hotel chain, they wash bedspreads twice a year...nasty......
I bring spray for the shower, you know the walls arent cleaned... I always find other peoples long hairs, it just about makes me vomit. Look in the corners in bathrooms, it always makes me sick, I dont care what hotel you are in.......all the same.

Ugggg!!! Maybe putting the bedspread on top of the media cabinet isn't far ENOUGH away from me!!!!!

Can totally relate to the bedspreads. They get pulled off as soon as I get in the room and either left under the desk/table (if room has one) or in the closet.

Good suggestion on bringing the Clorox wipes. The remote control always gives me the jitters to touch.

Have you ever thought about bringing a clean light cotton duvet cover to put the spread in? :confused3 This way you can have a clean cover during your stay.

OOOOooookay!! After reading this thread we will now be REMOVING the bedspread, placing it in a plastic bag and putting it in the NEIGHBORS media cabinet and then I'm spraying the place down with lysol!!!
Seriously, they don't launder them EVERY TIME? I think I'm going to be ill after thinking of all the hotel stays I've had in my past.
Nasty, sick, wrong! So very very very wrong.
Man, another thing to remember to do when we get down there, REMOVE the spread!

I'm going to wrap myself in plastic wrap before getting into bed--and not in a "fun" way! :scared1:

Yikes!

:crazy2: I thought the bedspread-digust was my own personal quirk (I'm not a germaphobe generally, but the bedspreads...yuck!!!), but I see I'm not alone. I agree - after reading this thread, I wish the entire resort room (and all the furniture in it) was made from stainless steel top to bottom that they could just hose down with bleach after every guest!!!

On a more serious note...okay, so now I want to remove the bedspreads but I do need more than a sheet at night...I am flying so can't bring my own comforters...do the beds have nice blankets on them? (Not that they wash them much more often....)

I have already posted above. You can bring a duvet cover (a light cotton cover) that you can put the spread inside it, so you really don't touch the spread. A duvet cover, is also known as a comforter cover. Duvets normally have an opening at one end with button closures. I am planning to take one with us to WDW in 2 weeks.

I like the duvet idea. Never thought of that. I usually remove the bedspread and put it in the closet. Also, I take Lysol wipes. First thing I do in the room is wipe the phone, remote control and any other surface that strikes me as looking not so clean. :rolleyes1

awww man even DISNEY doesnt change em in between guest stays? r u KIDDING ME? thats absolutely DISGUSTING.
