Beds - Queens vs. Twins

Just a quick question about the main beds on the ships:

I've seen references to queen beds, twin beds, and twin beds pushed together to make a queen. Does this mean that some rooms have actual queen beds and some rooms just have twins (which can be pushed together if needed) or do all of the rooms just have twins? If that's the case, are the twin beds traditional twins or are they the extra-long variety? I had an extra-long twin in college because my feet hang off the end of a regular twin. The same goes for a double bed, which is why I typically sleep on a queen. If the twins are regular twins, then pushing them together will make a double, not a queen - they wouldn't be long enough. Just wondering what the options are so that we can request what we want ahead of time. Thanks!

My husband is 6ft.3 and his feet have never hung off the bed. We have a king size at home at the bed in our cabin did not seem much smaller so it was definately not a "full size" They are all "twins' that are put together but in our three cruises on disney there was only one time I could feel the "seam" between the mattresses, in fact on the first one I was shocked to find out all the beds were actually two.

I don't think the beds are standard sizes anyway. A twin is 38 inches wide, double is 53, queen 60 & king 76. Queens & kings are 5 inches longer. The 2 beds pushed together didn't feel as big as a king, but it did feel more spacious than our queen. Two standard twin beds would be the width of a king, but shorter. The length seemed fine to us.

I have another question dealing with twins vs queen. How do they know which you want? When I made my reservation they didn't ask. Do I need to call back to inform them that my husband and I want the beds put together? We are the only two in the cabin and are married. So will they assume that we want the queen? Maybe me telling them that it is our 20th anniversary was enough?

I think they would assume that a husband and wife would want the beds together and that any children would be using the sofa or murphy bed unless you asked differently. Although their may be some folks like the "vanDykes and Flinstones" that prefer seperate beds so who knows. In our past three cruises the bed has always been made up as a queen for us and our son uses the sofa one.

Our Disney bed was made up together. On RCCI the beds were separate but the sabin steward asked if we wanted them together the first day & kept them like that for the rest of the week. It's easy to change!
