We are considering a stay at DIS on our trip next summer. I want to book early for the best chance at lower rates. Who can tell me about the beds? We are looking at the C1 suite.

Editing to add another question...how's the wifi?

Desert Inn & Suites...it's a hotel on Harbor very near the crosswalk entrance to the parks.

I've stayed at DI&S a couple of times and loved the beds! They seem somewhat firm but I slept great (could be the hours of walking each day or the great beds) but either way I slept great!!!

We stayed there in June and thought the beds were horrible! Way too hard for my liking!

I was there in a parlor suite in early 2015 and I thought the beds and pillows were pretty terrible. Lumpy, thin, and pretty hard. Of course, it might also be because I'm spoiled by an amazing bed at home.

That said, we still plan on staying there again in 2017. Everything else about the hotel makes it worth it to me. Especially since I hate pretty much all hotel beds.

I didn't use wifi much but I recall it being okay.

The beds are hard/very firm.

I brought/used a 2.5" foam mattress topper last time I stayed there because I knew from previous stays.

Honestly, I had heard about how bad the beds were, and assumed they were just from people that we extra "princess-y" about things. I have slept in some pretty rotten beds before, so I figured it wouldn't really be as bad as I had read... but DI&S beds were impressively hard to me! Like to the point that I considered sleeping on the floor the first night, and the second night, I gave serious thought to going to get an air mattress at Target.

However, some people say the mattresses in the more-front-ish rooms are better than the ones in the back-ish rooms, like they are changing them out. But I remember hearing that like 2 years ago, and I haven't seen updates that more rooms are getting better mattresses, so who knows.

:scared:

So I am probably the only one but for what it's worth I slept 100 times better on the beds at DI&S than when we stayed at the Disneyland hotel, where everyone raves about the beds. I don't know why, but I was really comfortable there.

I too loved the beds at Desert Inn and suites , our first visit was Labor Day and yes very firm but still comfy. I would say if you have an aversion to anything firm it would be best elsewhere. Hojos probably has the best ones next to DLH IMO.

I have to say if I had to choose between a too hard mattress or a too soft mattress I'd choose one that is too hard. Soft saggy mattresses hurt my back, so I guess I won't have to worry about too soft!!

The main problem with ours was that it felt lumpy and just WAY old. You could tell, for example, that my side of the bed had been slept on way more than my husband's side.

We've stayed in the C2 suites a few times and I never heard any complaints from our party of up to 11 people. I know we all slept fine. Its not my favorite bed by any means but perfectly fine. I think their mattresses are more on the firm side than soft side. Beds are so subjective! I know I prefer a softer bed than DH!

I don't remember the wifi so can't comment.

The beds are quite firm but the wifi is WAY better than any of the DLR hotels.

The beds are firm, but not hard. I prefer a firm bed over one that feels springy or overused. They have done some updating over the years and it’s a nice place to stay for location and price. They do charge about $15 a night between parking and resort fees, but I still think they’re typically cheaper than anything else right across the street. They also include a small free breakfast, which is nice when you’re rushing to get to the parks in the morning. And the breakfast starts at like 6:30, which is better than some places where they don’t open until 7AM (a problem for those who want to be at Disneyland early).

Thanks everybody! I appreciate everyone's input. We will try the C1 suite this summer. I was a little surprised at the price of $229 per night, and the last night of our stay will be $249. I had heard Desert Inn and Suites was a little cheaper. We usually stay at BWPPI, and that has gone up quite a bit too. Camelot has suites for 209 if you stay five or more days, but we've stayed there before, and want to try something different.

Last time I stayed there, I hated the beds and bedding. I considered them HARD. My younger daughter stayed there last summer and her comment was "the floor was softer..."

I don't know...I think $229 for a room that fits 8 people is a pretty good price for the area. The quite is basically the size of 2 regular hotels rooms (minus 1 shower.) And $115 a room is really good when you're so close to the park.
