Bedrooms, choosing wall color?

Would you chose your wall color first or would you find a comforter/bedding set that you absolutely love and pull a color out of that? If so, do you have any web sites that you like for bedding?

I chose a warm but neutral tone. I change my bedding every time I do laundry and I don't want to have one bedding set that matches the wall color and then all the other sets don't match at all.

I think it would depend on if I found a wall color or a bedspread that I liked.
For example, I just found an incredible bedspread in Kohls that I absolutely love!!! Come to think of it, my bedroom does need painting so I might have to go back, buy it and then pick a new paint color. Hmmmm, now you have me thinking.:scratchin

I don't think DH will be pleased!!

I usually pick color of walls, then something that matches.

Right now I am trying to get motivated to get the remaining wall paper off the walls and get the paint (that I have had for a year) on the walls.....

I would choose the comforter first. I think I bought my bedding and coordinating curtains from Dillards, but it has been so long that it may have been another store. Although I have two-inch off-white blinds, I still added the curtains because they went so well with the comforter and added color to the room (I have neutral walls).

I have such neutral walls (Dover white) that I am ready for a change. I saw a comforter at the Ralph Lauren outlet that I should have bought for DS#3. It was a great price. I guess I will have to drive up there.

I chose my wall color first. I change bedding more often than I paint walls.

I'm so uncreative, I have to find a border or a comforter that I like and then match the paint in most cases. I practically freeze with so many options of colors. It's just easier to get it down to the few colors that will match the comforter or border and then get the one that I'm most likely to use longer. But, since I keep my colors for several years, it works for me.

I am thinking that I am going to do all of the prep work now and hit the January "white" sales. The youngest DS is 21 and if I EVER see another poster, sticker, piece of tape on a closet or a wall, it is INSTANT EVICTION!!

I would find a bedspread you love first or just paint it something neutral. We painted dd's bedroom and it's been going on three years now that we've been looking for a bedspread that she a) likes and b) goes with the color on her walls.

Oh we have been there and down that! Kids stick stuff everywhere. With our youngest son, we put the posters in frames instead of letting him stick them on the wall. We had freshly painted walls and we were not going to go through getting sticky stuff off of them again.

Hopefully you can get your comforter on sale. When I bought curtains for my house, I waited until the holidays and got everything 50% off.

We went to Linens N Things yesterday and everything they had left was 90% off! I got a Nate Berkus King bedskirt and matching king pillow shams, for like $2.00. Now I just need to find a King comforter to match. Should be pretty easy, just a plain brown one would be perfect.

I buy the bedding first and then pull the color out of it. I'm not very creative.

DH and I have two bedspreads... One is a down comforter and the other is a teal/beige/brown/light blue striped set that we BOTH love.

We matched our paint color to the striped set (which I got on clearance at Sears the day I bought our bed for $35 w/ skirt and two shams ;) ) Our bed is a king so it takes up a lot of whatever room it is in and so without much effort, it becomes the center piece of the room.
We took a sham to Lowes and matched paint to it for our new house.

The bed is dark cherry, the floors and trim are an oak so we ended up matching paint to the lighter beige color stripe.

Now, I need to find a summer blanket. DH can't stand a comforter after May.

I'd get that comforter first-today's colors have a lot of soft aqua and greys in them.

I never can find comforters to go with my medium soft green bedroom anymore.
