Bed Rails & Luggage in the Middle of the Night

We are taking the red eye to Disney. Our flight gets in at 12:37 AM (What was I thinking? :confused3 Wait $116.00 round trip, that's it.). I am guessing that should get us to POFQ about 2:00 am. I will need a Bed Rail that night. I have always heard that you can't request a bed rail until you have check into your room. It will be 2:00 am I don't want to wait up another half hour or so until mousekeeping brings it. Any thoughts?

Also, what about luggage? We are taking the Magical Express and I am not sure I want a knock on the door at 4 AM saying "Luggage".

I've waited hours for a bed rail when calling at 8pm, since housekeeping isn't fully staffed at that hour. I'd call the front desk before you depart and tell them about your late arrival and ask for a bedrail to be placed in your room. As for your luggage, you can always claim it at baggage claim and have it placed on the bus then you won't have anyone trying to deliver luggage late at night.

I kind of thought about claiming the luggage myself. I hope to have a sleeping 3 year old in a stroller so that may be a little harder than I think. I will have to wait and see if I can get all our stuff in one large pull bag.

I had not thought to call the front desk before I leave. That is a really good idea. Unless I hear a better idea I think that is what I am going to do. If not, I think she is going to sleep on the floor (YUCK).

Thanks.

We're dealing with the exact same thing - a two-year old and we're arriving around midnight. We were able to request the bedrails on our ressie - and put a note on it about our late arrival too - but I guess it isn't likely that the bedrail will appear before we check-in. We're going to trying calling too, but I am not sure it will work. When you call the front desk at Disney, even when you are in your room at Disney, you are normally routed to a call center. Yes, they will tell you that they are physically located at your hotel if you ask but that is to maintain the magic and to keep the actual front desk people from having too many calls. (Caveat: all of this is what I have read from my year-plus here at the Dis!)

I would either carry your luggage or bring an overnight bag with the things you need for the night and ask the check-in CM if they can hold the rest of your luggage until the morning.

You can plan ahead and hope for the best, but please realize that while the Front Desk is open at this time of night, they are not going to have the same services available for arrivals during the day.

While that might not seem fair, it is pretty much industry standard and truthfully it is the guest's decision on when to arrive.

Good luck.

Not sure about the bedrails thing (if all else fails it is pretty easy to shove one of the beds up against the wall and a parent could sleep on the outside of the bed for 1 night)...but you can actually just bring what you need for the night in a carry on and stop at the bell stand as you enter the hotel, tell them that you would like your luggage held from magic express until 7AM (or whatever time you want it delivered) and they will hold it until the next AM and bring it up at the requested time. Then you do not have to mess with it all at the airport.

We did that in August and it worked great!!

Be careful about packing one large bag. Many airlines have 50 lb. weight limits, with charges for over-weight luggage.

Also, some beds are fixed to walls and cannot be moved. We have used the table chairs as barriers, when bedrails were late in coming from Mousekeeping.
