Bed Bugs at the Nick Hotel?

I have booked the Nick hotel for Oct/Nov05, and, of course, booked it at the pre-purchase, non-refundable, "lower" rate. I have read many reveiws here on this board and on other boards. Then, I was at dinner with some friends the other night, who said they'd never stay at the Nick hotel because they read some bad reviews about the hotel having bed bugs. I have not found any of these reviews myself. Does anyone else out there no anything about this-heard about it, experienced it, etc....? I am also wondering if this is a renovated hotel, then does anyone know if they put in all new mattresses? Any input or info on this or other cleanliness issues at the Nick hotel would be helpful. I know this can happen at any hotel, but I've never seen a review of this for Nick Hotel. I would imagine that if it did happen they'd take care of it ASAP as they have a reputation to uphold and they charge high prices.

We'll be there on 12/4 and are hoping we don't have any "visitors" in our bed, but I don't think we will.

We were there for two nights in July. Definitely no bed bugs! Ironically the Nick Hotels housekeeping was far superior to the housekeeping we had at the Grand FLoridian.

We, too, are scheduled to make a visit to the Nick Hotel in Nov, 2005 and I have been scouring reviews of this place for many months. Your friends are right, there were MANY reviews posted on Trip Advisor that complained of bed bugs and all sorts of other gross things I won't care to mention. I can only hope that these issues have been complained about and that the Nick Hotel folks' took immediate action....otherwise I would not stay there either. We will give it one chance in Nov and from there, we will know whether or not to ever pay their HIGH prices again!

We just toured Nick Hotel last week for our work and it is extremely clean and well-kept. Bear in mind that sometimes a disgruntled guest will post (and get family and friends to post) negative reviews if they feel they did not get something they wanted from the hotel.

With the internet, you're at the mercy of the public when you own a business and it only takes one well-organized person with a chip on their shoulder to spread bad press, often undeserved.

Just a thought. We toured all over the hotel and found it very bright and fresh. And yes, it used to be a different hotel but it went through extensive refurbishment so it's 'like new' now.

I have seen on the bedbug registry that there have been report of bedbugs at Nick hotel. Has anyone heard if they have dealt with this problem or not?

Just so everyone is aware - this thread is SIX YEARS OLD! Until the PP resurrected it. So nothing in it - good or bad - is likely to still be relevant.
