Bed and Breakfasts Near Disney World?

With all of the problems cropping up at Disney resorts lately, I'm considering staying offsite for our trip next year. We're a party of two and don't need a huge space or to rent a whole house. Offsite hotels are obviously an option, but outside of our WDW trips, we prefer good bed and breakfasts to hotel stays.

Are there any good bed and breakfasts near Disney World? It wouldn't have to be right next to it, as we'd have a car. I just mean not more than a 20 minute or so drive from the front gates. Does anyone have any experience with Orlando B&Bs?

I've never stayed there, but there's a B&B called The Edgewater Hotel in downtown Winter Garden that gets great reviews. It would probably be about 30 minutes from Magic Kingdom parking. Downtown Winter Garden is so lovely too- the B&B is right on the walkable main street with shops, restaurants, bars, and there's usually live entertainment on weekend nights. There's also an indoor artisan market called Plant Street Market nearby as well.

We also hate hotels and rent timeshare condos cheap through Skyauction. We love having our own kitchen and a place that feels like home.

We have used Airbnb many times throughout the country. They allow us to meet some great people and live like locals rather than tourists. There are many around Disney. Staying in a stranger’s house is a bit weird, but we are careful with our choices and although no stay has been perfect, overall we enjoy memorable, unique places more than hotels.
