Becky & Jason's Fairy Tale wedding 9/3/11 on Long Island - *complete*

Ring Bearer Outfits!

So we decided on a ring bearer outfit - thanks to Dolly, who suggested looking into JC Penney! Here is the outfit we picked out:

ringbeareroutfits.jpg

It's not the same blue as my bridesmaids and my official color, more of a lighter blue, but I think it will still go nicely. I'm hoping the flowers will be about that color blue so everything will blend in!

Yeah! So glad that my suggestion helped to find a great outfit for your ring bearer and I'm sure a great price to help keep your budget in check. I think it looks great!

I had another idea for you to try with your table name bookmarks. Although I think they already look just fine.

You might get a small piece of double sided tape or a small pop dot and and place it on the bottom of the table name bookmark an inch or two from the bottom corner. Then you could place the middle of the cord on the tape so that it causes the cord to curl around and hang from the tape. Just a thought...I hope I'm making sense. You can play with it while it is laying flat on a table to see if you like the way it looks before you tape it down.

Super duper cute!!!

Aww so cute!! It will look great!!

Thanks, I can't wait to see the boys actually wear them! And Dolly, it really was a bargain - on sale for $24.99! Half the price of the little tuxes we were looking at...

That's a good suggestion too. I'll probably play around with it a little when I go home in July and really set everything up to see how it looks. I'm thinking I might just leave them be, but we'll see!

Rehearsal Dinner

Because of our financial situation, I wasn't really sure if we were going to have a formal rehearsal dinner. DF's parents had already given us a large amount of money to help pay for the wedding, and I felt weird about asking them for more for the rehearsal dinner. So we were just going to have something at my house, get some big platters from Costco and whatnot. But the other night DF's dad pulls me aside and tells me that he'd like to pay for a rehearsal dinner, and to not worry about the cost at all!

Of course, I'm not going to go crazy, I'm trying to look for some places that will be reasonable but still nice. Our Church is located in a downtown area where there's a lot of restaurants, so we have some options. We're thinking it will be about 25 people at the rehearsal dinner. All of the places we are looking at have private rooms, though some have a minimum of 25 people, which will cut it close. Here are some pictures of our top 3 options right now:

Brickhouse Brewery

My parents are going to contact them and get prices and go look at the rooms. My dad actually knows the owner of the Brickhouse, so maybe we can get a deal! So I'm just waiting on that.

In other good news, DF graduated from college on Saturday! Not only that, but he won this big award for achievement in the natural sciences. They only gave out three - one to the best student in the arts, one to the best student in the social sciences, and one to the best student in the natural sciences. It was a big honor - and it came with a little bit of $$ too!

Becky,
I feel like we are kindred spirits! I am a fellow "library geek" with a degree in Creative Writing/Literature, who also loves Disney and fairytales! I am love, love, loving all of your planning. :goodvibes
Your centerpieces and bookmarks, Dolly's idea about using the Golden Books, all of it is fabulous. I am so jealous. We are doing an Escape wedding at Sea Breeze Point, so there is no reception, and no way to steal your ideas and use them for my own!

Your dress is beautiful, and you are going to have a truly beautiful fairytale wedding! I can't wait for more updates. popcorn::

Congrats to your fiance! That is such a great achievement--- you must be so proud! :)

And I really like all of the rehearsal dinner spaces! I think my favorite is The Oar, but mostly because it reminds me of home in CT and the Yacht Club. However, I also REALLY like the first choice, and if you could get a deal on it, that would be amazing! (The second is cute too, I'm just ranking them.) It's so nice of DF's dad to pay for a rehearsal dinner! We're not having one, and I regret it a litttttle bit--- I chose the DP on the day of the wedding instead of a RD. So glad you get to have one!

Big congrats to DF!!!!!! Any of those places look like they would be fine for a rehearsal dinner, but the Brickhouse reminds me of BJs Brewery, one of my favorite restaurants, so I would vote for that one (I'm invited, right?)

I am invited too right?!? :lmao:

BIG CONGRATS TO DF!!!!!! Not only graduating but also for that huge science honor!! Tell him these are for him!!!

:dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

I love the outside of the first venue... brick is so neat especially bricked inside walls... reminds me of Charleston! I love the third venue as well, it looks the most modern inside, but I love the look of the outside of the first one!

Yay for getting a formal rehearsal! I am sure whatever you decide on will look and taste fabulous!! :goodvibes

Yay to your DF graduating! Congrats!

So as far as the venues go I definitely think that the last one is my favorite! I love the whole feel of it! I definitely vote for that one! =] <3 Hope it all works out girl!

So my question for you is...how are you going to decide between such awesome rehearsal dinner locations???? They all look great! and congratz to DF, that's such an honor!

OoOoOoh I love the first venue! I love the brick wall and the whole look of the place!
And congrats on your df graduating! Tell him congrats for me!! :goodvibes

Yay! So happy for your DF!!!

and I like how bright the locations are! My sister's baby shower location is so dark and dreary and these are quite the contrary... any of them would be lovely.

Aw I agree, we do sound quite similar! We have lots in common! :goodvibes I'm sure that your wedding will beautiful though - and after all, it's a Disney wedding!

Thanks for following along!

Thanks! I've never actually been to any of them, so I'm judging by the pictures too! I really love seafood, so the Oar or Harbor Crab would be great, but the Brickhouse looks so cool and they brew their own beers there. I'm not a fan of beer but a lot of other people attending are!

And if I was at Disney, I probably would have chosen the dessert party over the rehearsal dinner too. Those desserts always look so amazing! :yay:

Hey, both of you - if you wanted to come all the way out here to Long Island, you'd be more than welcome at the rehearsal dinner! :rotfl: After all, we do have to meet that 25 person minimum ;)

Yay to your DF graduating! Congrats!

Thanks! I'm excited to see which one we end up with, they all look good and my parents have been to them all and say they are all tasty as well!

I posted a little while about escort cards, and I believe it was Amber that posted this picture:

I love the little books so I think that's what I'm going to try and do! I started experimenting, but I need some help/advice. Here's what I have:

P1040181.jpg

P1040180.jpg

With just blue paper I thought they looked kind of boring. I tried to add the ribbon but I'm just not sure what looks best. The thick ribbon I can't fold over because it's so thick, so it frays on the edges. The thin ribbon is better in that regard but I'm just not sure it looks quite right. Any ideas on how to make it look better (Particularly where the "binding" is?) I stapled the books together so right now the ribbon is covering up the staples. Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

And by the way, the writing on the one was just to see how that would look, I'd do something much neater and prettier for the actual ones ;)

If you look at the inspiration picture, it looks like the ribbon is actually threaded through two punched holes in the fold of the book and then tied in a knot. This is actually what I am doing for my STD booklets and it works really great! Much nicer and cleaner than using glue, I think. :goodvibes You look like you are off to a great start, though!

Loving everything so far! The fairytale story theme is such an awesome idea! I love books too!

I think those little escort cards are adorable. I agree that punching holes and threading the ribbon through might look the best. I'm impressed that you're diy-ing so much! I'm not even a little crafty so I am always in awe of those who are. :worship:

Thanks for your advice! I am trying a few different styles and I think they are looking a bit better. The main issue was that I didn't want to punch holes because it's so small, and the hole punch I have is regular sized. However, I've found that I can make a small slit with scissors to give me the look I like. I'll post more pictures when I'm done!

Thank you! I grew up in a crafty family - my mom sold crafts as a part time job, and we actually had a "craft room" in our house! So I look forward to any opportunity to make stuff.

Guest book!

So I designed and ordered our guest book from MixBook. It came in yesterday and I love it! We used pictures of ourselves and quotes about fairy tales. Here's some shots of it:

Now I'm just hoping that people will actually write stuff in it!
