Because I am Your Mom and I Say So! (October TR) 3/15 Food and Wine and More

I'm a little late to this TR but I'm glad I found it!

How exciting to get to take two trips so close to each other! I think we might get to do that this year. We're going in March and hopefully again in June.

Can't wait for the next update!

P.S. I love your kids shirts!

The Beach Club looks wonderful! I'd love to stay there someday :) Isn't the Boardwalk just beautiful at night?

The kids really want to stay there, between the pool and the activities on the beach they didn't want to leave. Of course, it has great appeal for us older kids too!:goodvibes

If we had the time I would have just grabbed a lounge chair and listened to the splashing water and enjoyed the atmosphere!

I would give anything to be a the Beach Club right now!!! I'm SO sick of the winter and the snow!

I love Cape May for dinner, it's SO good! It's easy to make yourself sick there, you end up eating so much! :rotfl:

The Boardwalk is so pretty! :cool1: I've only walked around there once, but I'd like to explore it again sometime!

The Beach Club would definitely be a good place to be right now! One one hand we usually don't get snow and would like to play in it for a day, on the other hand, the snow is cold, kills the plants, and melts quickly around here. Guess I like the thought of snow.:confused3

Anywhere that has seafood is good for me. I love crab legs and shrimp! I did try the mussels and clams, not really for me, but they weren't horrible. I think we all stuffed ourselves.

It was a nice cool night to walk around. The boardwalk is gorgeous!

subbing now because its like hearing myself talk outside of my head. :cutie:

:lmao:Glad to have u here!

Yea for updates. Glad your ride was uneventful except for the McDonalds incident.

Thanks! We made pretty good time and nothing was stolen, so I guess the drive in was a good one!:goodvibes

Welcome! You aren't that late, I'm still on our arrival day.:goodvibes

We had so much fun on our trips! I wish that when we took our April trip I had gotten AP's it would have saved us so much money. If you are going twice I would recommend the AP!:thumbsup2

Thanks!

Not to sidetrack a thread - but if you like the boat aspect..POR is better than POFQ. We wanted to take the boats from POFQ, but the way they work it, they fill the boats up with all but about 6 seats at POR, so when they get to POFQ there's little room. We waited almost an hour for a boat @ POFQ our first trip there, and there was only about 15 people in front of us in line. Never took the boat to DTD again...bus was waaay faster. (This was back in 2006 - so things might have changed.) While we like POFQ - I would never pay extra for a "water view". How much time do you spend looking out your window in a mod? it's not like there's a balcony to sit out on!

Sorry Ashley - had to chime in my 2 cents.

What did you choose for the resort? I would recommend the pirate room at CBR. I asked the kids which room they liked best and that one won hands down. Plus, I think the pool is tops.:thumbsup2 We did like POR, but just not quite as much as CBR.

Thanks! guys
well I booked last week! I called WDW and asked the CM if I happen to have a pin or if she could help me out (since my mom and many friends seem to have received pins and I really really needed one--she put me on hold came back and told me I had an older one attached to my name and that she was able to use it for the dates I had selected :mickeyjum )
Sooooo, which resrot did I book...I told her standard (I ALWAYS book standard) room at POFQ second choice POR well that is the weekend of the Winde and Dine marathon and that is the mod of choice. So, next resort of choice was the Caribbean Beach Resort. I did not book the pirate room, just a standard and now I need to do some research to put in for a room recommendation. I really do not want to be in the very back of the resort.

Hope to have more up soon!

Oh, and Chloe had a field trip to the children's museum in Hammond, I tagged along. She loved it! If there is a tuesday or thursday that you want to meet up there I would love to- can't wait to take Noah!

Ashley I would love to meet you and Noah at the museum. I was thinking about you guys the other day. Let me figure out what Tuesday I do not have Chloe coming up and I will let you know. I am not suppose to have her this coming Tuesday; but, she was sick this last Tuesday. I will know tomorrow and will let you know. If we are back on schedule we will be free Feb 1, 15, March 1. Ashton has speech from 9:30 to 10:00 so we can meet you guys around 10:15.

Great update! the kids pictures are so cute...sounds like I may have to put Cape May down as a choice for Danny and I to think about. and a nice stroll on the boardwalk sounds like a fun way to end the evening...

That's cool that you arrived early enough to have a chance to explore. You have some great pictures!

What did the kids think of the buffet at Cape May? Did they have a special section with kid selections? Looks like they enjoyed the dessert options!

Great updates! I love your pictures of POR. DH and I stayed at POFQ on our Disneymoon. It was great, but I wish we would have stayed at POR instead. It looks so peaceful and romantic! :lovestruc

It looks like you had a blast at Cape May! I would love to eat there someday!

I think that Trinidad North would be a good location to request. I think the buses pick up in Martinique first, then Old Port Royale, then Trinidad north next. I believe that all the Martinique rooms are preferred or I would recommend that section. But I really think that you all will enjoy that resort, especially the pool area.:thumbsup2 And yay for getting a pin! That always helps.

Any of the dates sound good to me. The time would be good as well. So excited to meet and let the boys play!

Thanks! It really was a good night. I hope to have many more exploring the resorts. I would say to make an earlier reservation than we did if you want to be able to sit around the campfire or really look around at the Boardwalk.

Thanks! According to my notes;) the kids buffet had nuggets, mac n cheese, pizza, green beans and pasta. They ate really well from what I remember.

Thanks, glad you had time to catch up!:goodvibes

POR was really peaceful. As soon as I stepped outside I felt the calm wash over me. With all the greenery it felt like we were secluded. In 2000, when Chris and I stayed there the resort was anything but quiet. Now I see how the resort was meant to be!

We were all excited to be at Disney! Cape May was yummy, especially the crab legs and the pasta with lobster sauce.

Great update!! I have yet to stay at either Beach Club or the Boardwalk but have visited both resorts and they are indeed beautiful! Boardwalk is a lot of fun at night - I loved the atmosphere! I hope you got back to Beaches and Cream - yummy!!

Sara

It seemed like so much more than 13! I grabbed my notebook and put another tick on the "are we there yet chart" each and every time they asked. Chloe wasn't so amused with my tally system, think it might have made her second guess asking me again.

I love this idea...I will have to include my DH in the tally because he is the WORST!!
October 16- Part 2

While out on the beach, saw that they were building a campfire. The kids wanted to stay, but the campfire started at 7, which was the same time as our reservation. After the campfire they show a movie on the beach, so we decided we would come back for that. On our way back inside the kids decided to be my little models.

Sounds awesome. you just reminded me to leave sometime in our evening for campfire & outdoor movies at FWL.

i just love living vicariously through others while I tick off days till WDW:hippie:

i just love your shots from the Boardwalk! I tried to talk DH in to splitting our stay between WLR & Boardwalk but he wasn't buying it.

Unfortunately, we never made it back for Beaches and Cream, but there is always next time!

I love the Dis! So great to take a trip to disney through others trip reports.:thumbsup2

awwww, Chloe & Noah make perfect looking models! I LOVE their shirts!

Thanks! I'm glad I got two trips out of those shirts, but now they are too little.

The boardwalk is such a beautiful area. We never went inside the resort though, but all of the Epcot resorts look like a nice place to stay.

We are staying at WL this coming trip too! I can't wait.:woohoo:

I see your ticker says less than 2 months.... are you not updating here bedcause you are planning March?

DH wanted to go back for our anniversary, just us, next year but i am not sure I could do WDW w/o Katie. i would feel so guilty.

I am planning March as well, but I think I have alot of it squared away. I need to get an update up here. We have been moving things around the house trying to get some stuff out of the kids playroom and ready for a garage sale. It is always something!

I am trying not to feel guilty, Chloe telling me it is ok helps alot. When we go with the kids it is hard to do the over 40" rides and any of the shows, so I am really looking forward to it!

October 17- Animal Kingdom Part 1

We were up bright and early because today was morning EMH at AK. We were in the park by 8:15 and first up was Kilimanjaro Safari’s.

There was a bit of a wait(20 minutes), but before long we were on our 2 week trek through Africa.

Can you tell I was having fun with my new camera? I really enjoy the safari ride and we were in the front row, so we had a great view.

continued from above...

After trek was cut short we decided to skip the Pangani Trail, but I did check real quick to see if any gorilla's were right outside of KS

October2010R100.jpg

This one was all I saw because I then realized Chris and Noah were missing. Chloe and I looked for them at the stroller parking and the stoller parking cm said they went into the Pangani Forest Exploration trail, so I had to call Chris to get him to come out. We were going to another trail instead!

While walking from Africa to Asia the kids played on the drums.

The beautiful tree of life!

Then we saw another gorilla.

Chloe was the only one interested in a picture with Terk.

After grabbing fp’s for Kali River Rapids we found the entrance to

There is so much detail in this trail. If you haven't walked this one I highly recommend it.

The birds were being fed in the aviary. It was pretty interesting to watch, though it would probably be scary if you are frightened of birds flying over you.

The birdhouses are fancy-schmancey.

After our trek through Asia Chris and I hoped that both kids would enjoy the next creepy, crawley adventure.

Next up- more AK!

Great pictures, you did a great job for such a bumpy ride...Love doing Safari first thing in the AM...always great views of the animals. We also got to ride in the front row (we always end up in the back every other time, so I asked). We were making some jokes - not rude - and once cracked up the driver so much he had to turn off his microphone. Wish I could remember what I said that made him laugh...
