Hello All!

I am just getting around to filling out the BATB $5 upgrade rebate form that came with the DVD. Basically, if you already have the VHS version and buy the DVD, you can get $5 back by sending in the DVD purchase receipt and the proofs-of-purchase from both the DVD and video.

Everything was going great until I went to retrieve the POP from the VHS. There is none! At least, not with the copy we have. The newer VHS boxes come with the little POP tabs near the bar codes. Our version of BATB is pretty old, probably from when they first released it. If there was some other POP form with the video, it's long gone.

Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there anything I can do about it to get my $5?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ours didn't have one either. I thought maybe we had already taken it off of the package for something else. It would sure be nice to still get the $5 rebate. I wish the rebate form had a number that we could call to ask about this.

I have just sent an email through Disney's DVD & Video Official Site regarding this problem. Let's see if I get a response.

Thanks, jsginmd! Please keep us posted on their response.

I had the same problem. I just cut off the entire upc symbol from the vhs tape and the dvd. I figured I had nothing to lose by sending the entire code. I just sent it off last week so I haven't heard from them yet.

Thought I didn't have one either but when I pulled the cover out of the plastic (to cut the barcode off) it was tucked under - it was just a tab that said "proof of purchase Beauty and the Beast" and a code number. My question is; I used the register receipt for this then wanted to use the purchase also for buy 3 get 1 free and had to make a copy to send in for that, do you think they will honor the copy of the CRR?

Still no official word back yet from Disney, but I wanted to add my comments to mom42860's question about receipt copies.

Personally, I think they would honor a copy of the receipt for the multiple mail-ins (although I have no direct experience or official information on this). Just to be safe, I'd put the original receipt with the mail-in you want the most.

On a rare trip to McDonald's, I came across a $3 rebate that requires the original receipt too. I figured I'd go for the $5 rebate with the original receipt and then a copy for the McDonald's. I have no idea if that will be honored, but it's worth a shot and besides, they ask for a different POP tab (tab C vs. B) from the DVD.

If they really want to get picky, the receipt is supposed to be dated between October 8 and December 31 and I pre-ordered so my receipt is from August.

What we go through to get $5....:p

Just went back to my VHS to check for folded under POP tabs and nothing there. However, there is a jagged area on the top edge near the barcode that MAY have once been those tabs. Uh-oh....

I'll let you know if I hear back from Disney.

I actually got a response from Disney today! :bounce:

Now, the question is, is the $5 worth a big, gaping hole in the video's jacket? :D

In my opinion, it is definitely worth it. ;)
