We have a 5 day Hopper and will be staying at Worldmark Anaheim Oct. 16 through October 24. So will have Tuesday through Tuesday to spread things out. We will do 1 day at USH. Planning either Saturday or Sunday at USH. Thought is to avoid Saturday at DL due to crowds (although some threads say Saturdays less crowded at DL because all avoid??) , but may not be best day for USH either due to crowds. HP is main push for USH. Also understand traffic on weekends better and plan to Uber and early entry USH .
So we will have 1 down day. Hubby just s wants stay at hotel and Veg. but kids love beach and Oregon beaches are always cold. Would love to do a beach day or atleast a few hours. But would have to be low stress both going and coming and low stress there. Kids would play in sand and in water. Snorkeling would be fun too. (They snorkeled in Hawaii and enjoyed.) We are used to cold water, even pools in summer are cold here & our last trip to DL worldmarks pool was cold too..so I am thinking water for us in Oct. should be fine?

Thoughts on days to do USH & beach. (we will do 1 MM, & possibly fireworks)

Thinking Uber easier than rental?
Or public transport? Remember needs to be low stress...

What beach(s) should we shoot for?

In my last 3 visits over 2 years Saturdays were the least busy day or the same as say a Tuesday which I did not expect. There isn't snorkeling at CA beaches close to shore. I've driven from Crystal Cove to DL and it seemed close maybe 30-40 min? It's a difficult beach to get to if you park as the parking lot is far but if an Uber dropped you it might be easier. Newport Beach is just north of that and has shops, esplanade etc. To me one needs a lot of stuff for the beach- towels, sand toys etc so is

It will be warmer than OR but still not warm - especially in October. I am talking about water temps not air temps which can be quite warm still in Oct.

Beach can be fun still.

Newport and Huntington are good options near DLR.

If you choose Huntington Beach, there is a Ruby's Diner (burgers, fries, shakes -- sock hop theme) on the end of the pier. Our kids loved eating there and seeing the ocean. (And if your kids end up loving it, there is a Ruby's in Anaheim, too, on Lincoln -- about 5-10 minutes from DLR.)

Balboa/Newport Beach is great! My kids loved renting bikes and riding on the boardwalk between Balboa Pier and Newport Pier. :beach:
