Hi
Weve stayed at st petes before @ the trade winds, which although a lovely hotel and wonderful location was full on convention people and very busy, were thinking of a beach stay 3 or 4 days and was looking at vero beach but have read some very mixed reviews of it, anyone stayed here?...what did you think of it?...also how long does it take to drive ...?

We want somewhere with activities for kids, and more of a resort feel than just a regular hotel, price isnt too much of an issue, anyone suggest anywhere else, must be beachfronted, and big enough rooms for 6 or connecting rooms.
Thanks in Advance....

Disney's Vero Beach resort is nice. It takes about an 1 1/2 - 2 hours to get to from WDW.

Agree. We've visited Vero a couple of times just as day visitors and stayed there once just as an overnight. Would definitely go back though!

There are different activities held through the day, has a weenie mini golf thing, etc. and it has a very relaxed, quite intimate and friendly feel to it. It's got the shiny aspects of family friendly Disney but doesn't have...hmm, how to put it...it doesn't feel so much a part of the '$$ Disney machine' if that makes sense.

It does have evil, evil sand fleas at dusk/dawn though so need the bug repellent more than ever if you go anywhere near the beach, little beggars got me in the morning just when I went to the fence overlooking the beach to take some last minute snaps in the early light.

Hi we stayed at Vero beach for a week in August this year. We really liked the resort. We have a dd(6) and she loved it. She made friends with lots of other children and had a great time in the pool and taking part in the numerous activities. There were water slide races, cookery classes, she made a pirate hat and sword to wear to the Donald and Goofy Pirate Dinner, they was a really full activity programme (some activities needed to be paid for) There was a campfire most evenings with singing and smores and films by the pool on certain nights. All the activity staff were great too. In addition to the organised activities there was mini golf and shuffle board (think that's what it's called :confused3)

We thought the accommodation was of a high standard, we stayed in a one bedroom apartment and thought it was great.

The only downside for us was that the resort is very remote, we had a car but to go out to eat was about a 20 minute drive. We did however eat at the onsite restaurant a few nights, one night was for the pirate dinner already mentioned, dd really enjoyed that because the interaction with donald and goofy was good, as the reataurant is fairly small and not terribly crowded the characters spent a long time with us. DH & I went on our own one night and had great steaks (DD went to the kids club and LOVED it - in fact didn't want to leave. We also went for the seafood evening which again was great food.

I have posted a link to some photos of the resort - hope it works, it's a bit techy for me :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

We have stayed at several other places on both the east and West Coasts of Florida - think I like the Vero Beach resort as much as anywhere else we have stayed and I would definately go back, but think that may be due to the fact that dd enjoyed it so much and that there was so much for her to do but I do feel that there are better locations, in terms of accessability to shops restaurants etc.
