Hi All!
Working on Vacation Bible School stuff and I need ideas for beach or island themed snacks. Something kids will like. We have blue jello with sweedish fish, goldfish crackers and cookies made with fish cookie cutters.
Any more ideas????
Thanks,
Kimba

How about fruit kabobs and drinks with little umbrellas in them. Hawaiian Punch would be so festive with umbrellas. The children would feel so special.

Anything fruit! Make fruit tarts! With umbrella toothpicks! :goodvibes Hope it turns out ok!

If you can find those BUGLES you could put some dip in them and make them look like Hermit crabs.

We will be doing fruit with palm tree picks in them. I've come up with a few ideas, but if you have any more ideas I'd love to hear them.

You could make pudding cups and sprinkle crushed graham crackers or vanilla wafer crumbs on top to look like sand and decorate with the umbrellas, and teddy grahams inside a lifesaver "preserver". Or a Teddy graham on a pices of striped gum to look like a beach towel.

I had done tuna fish sandwiches before. Cut the bread out with a cookie cutter and then put a sliced olive for the eye.

You could get sand dollar cookies.

I made cupcakes one year for dd and put some graham cracker crumbs on there w/ those gummy octopuss candies and an umbrella. I also made the carrots w/ green pepper cut in v's and put upside down on the carrot to look like a palm tree. It was a cute effect.

Cool Ideas!!
Thanks Everyone!!

Cut fresh pineapples in triangle wedges, attach a maraschino cherry with a toothpick.

We did a theme night at home once and did fresh coconuts. I know this would be impossible for VBS, but maybe if a few families did it, you could use the hollowed out shells for a dip? :)

You can make Octopuses out of hot dogs, but cutting 8 sections halfway up the hot dog. We first saw this at Ariel's Grotto in DCA, and all my kids went nuts over them!

You can also make shell shaped biscuits by forming a canned biscuit into a shell shape, and kind of scoring the "shell" with a knife to give it lines like a clam shell has. These are cute if you're serving tuna salad sandwiches.

Ooh! I saw those on "Ham On The Street" on Food Network. They are called "Octadogs"! :goodvibes

Yup. We had them 2 years ago at DCA, and since then my kids won't eat hot dogs any other way. They say they taste better when they look like octopuses.

I thought about the hot dogs, (I make these for my kids every now and then)
But I'm not sure how many kids we'll have that could take alot of prep time. I'll run it by the others those. All these ideas are so cool! I made notes of them all so we can decide at our next meeting.
If you have any others I'd be happy to hear them!

:rotfl: Aww!

We are also doing a Treasure/Island theme VBS! Some of the ideas that we may be using are:

cupcakes with blue tinted frosting - gummy octopus, shark, or dolphin on top

sand pails - filling small cups (they even have some with sea shell decorations!) 3/4 full of vanilla pudding, put crushed graham crackers or vanilla wafers on top for "sand". I would also love to add some of those candies that look like sea shells - but I haven't found them yet. If time allows, I would like to add pipe cleaner handles onto the cups to look more like a sand pail.

volcano sundaes - vanilla ice cream with hot fudge and/or strawberry sauce lava, sprinkles or nuts for lava rocks, and whipped cream for the smoke

fish bait - "trail" mix type mix(cereal, pretzels, gummy worms, mini-marsh...) - be sure to add goldfish crackers!

Happy Planning!
Blessings, Shana
