beach front hotel?

I just figured out that we will be arriving in florida a day earlier than expected so I thought I would take the kids and spend the night on the beach. Can anyone suggest which beach would be best (coca or daytona) and if they can recomend a beach front resort or hotel. One where we can leave the balcony door open and hear the crashing of the waves as we sleep.

One possibility would be in cocoa beach at the best western oceanfront. If you decide to go there, make a ressie in the tower building, oceanfront and you'll have what it is you're looking for.

The beach is wider on the Gulf side, but I'd much prefer Clearwater Beach. Only about half an hour farther.

We have stayed in Daytona Beach a number of times. We've always stayed at Perry's Ocean Edge (my inlaws have been staying there twice a year for over 15 years). It is very family oriented and they don't let college kids stay.

Check out the beach in Melbourne, just a little further than Cocoa Beach. My nephew bid and got Doubletree on the beach for less than $50 a night. The room was big enough for family of 5. They loved it. Management and people working there were really nice, too.

As for gulf side-not the Atlantic Ocean but still a nice calm place to go. <g>

I ended up booking the Hilton Oceanfront in Melbourne beach and was able to get an ocean front king suite for only $100.00.
