After returning from Miami, we booked into Universals Hard Rock Hotel - with both boys mad about Harry Potter, we were looking forward to early entry to IOA and front of line passes to most of the rides (except The new Potter ride!).

You can't leave us there  I'm dying to see the rest of the place.
My 2 teenagers would love the Hard Rock. Do you get a fridge and microwave in the room or even an iron? We usually stay on I-Drive but have always managed to get them in each hotel.

Whenever we manage to go back, we'll probably go for a 2 bedroomed apartment as the boys can only share a bed on holiday for so many years. The fact they're both about 6ft now just emphasises the need for a bed each

I feel as if I'm stalking you because I seem to be the first one replying to your thread all the time :lmao:

Keep the days coming please :)

From memory, the only fridge in a standard room at the HRH contained the mini-bar. There was no microwave, but I'm pretty sure that there was an iron and ironing board.

We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel a few years ago and did not find it as good as we thought we would. The staff were quite rude and the rooms were small. We definately preferred to the Royal Pacific last year. This year we are going to try the Portofino. all definately worth the front of the line passes and the early entrance to Harry Potter and the location to the parks definately worth the price. You pay for parking here too.

This was the second time we have stayed at the HRH and I have mixed feelings about it to be honest. We love the feel of the place, the theming and especially the music. The rooms are ok but as you say on the small side. The pool is good (we really enjoyed chilling out at the pool-side bar in the evening) but more like a paddling pool than a swimming pool.
We too experienced rude and unhelpful staff, but we also met some very friendly staff - again mostly the waiting-on staff.
But the real benefit is the limitless front of queue passes and the very short walk to Universal and IOA.
Not sure if we'll use a Universal hotel next time, but we may try out one of the others if we do.

In this video, we have a spot of super at 'the Beach Club' pool-side bar, then take a look at the hotel after the 5 of us have messed it up for 7 days!

we read somewhere that the rudeness of the staff at Hard Rock Hotel was part of the themeing for being like a rock star. We had a bad check in so it left us (all three families) feeling hard done by right at the beginning of our stay. I have had no rush to return. Strangely we are such fans of the Hard Rock Cafe. Glad you all enjoyed your stay
