When we stayed at CBR two years ago (we stayed at BC last year), the main pool (and hot tubs) was open 24/7. They did close the slides when the lifeguards went off duty, and that was fine. They can certainly do something similar with SAB - have the lifeguards go off duty and close the slide at 10pm but leave the rest of it open. They can close it from 2-6am for cleaning and maintainence.

SAB is much different than the CBR main pool. There are so many separate areas that I agree with the policy that there needs to be life guards at all times when the pool is open. The lazy river isn't really lazy and there are several areas where the pool drops off pretty quickly. So it's not as ridiculous as you might think.

They could also shut down whatever creates the current in the lazy river when lifeguards go off duty.

If someone (speaking mainly about adults) is not that strong a swimmer - or worse, can't swim at all - then they shouldn't be going in the pool if lifeguards are not on duty. It's that simple. What has happened to personal responsibility?

As for kids, parents would have to...heaven forbid...actually watch their children themselves and pay close attention.

It seems to me that late at night most people are just looking for a quick dip in the pool so the quiet pools WOULD serve that purpose.

When we've been there in July SAB was open until 11:00 pm . I know at the GF the themed pool is also closed down after the lifeguards leave.

It shouldn't be Disney's fault if someone who can't swim goes in a pool and drowns and there is clear signage stating there are no lifeguards on duty and you are swimming at your own risk. Again, people have to assume some personal responsibility and accountability. But in today's over litigious society...I guess that hardly exists.

The idea that SAB is essentially a mini waterpark, while shared by many, is a total exaggeration. It's a complex of pools. A very impressive, fun, and enjoyable one at that...but not a mini waterpark.

I think a lot of people would love to be able to be able to enjoy SAB (to whatever extent - a quick dip or more) at the end of their day at the parks - especially since as a PP said, SAB was probably a big reason for them choosing the BC/YC. I believe it was open until 11pm the day we arrived last August, but then for the rest of our stay (8 nights), it closed at 10pm. It was still summer, still hot, etc., so to close the pools that early makes no sense. What would happen then was that the "quiet pool" was usually anything but that from 10pm until around midnight as most of the people from SAB just went there. It was packed and loud. Little by little though it would clear out and finally get "quiet". Throw in the fact that the hot tub at the quiet pool wasn't working for 4 days and it made the situation even worse.

Let me be clear about this though: I think the BC is a great resort overall and we very much enjoyed our stay there and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. I just think it's wrong for them to be limiting the availabilty of one its biggest reasons to stay there so much.

I think SAB would be way to noisy opened past 11. I would be annoyed if staying in a room overlooking SAB at midnight and people were still going strong. So many lack manners,,,

Yes, there have been times when we get back from the parks and want a swim, but the quiet pools open 24/7 are pleasant. They have a jacuzzi at the quiet pools, which is nice for tired feet. SAB is something you want to utilize though, and when you stay there you will see why.

The positives are location. It is great to be able to walk to Epcot, and if you like the Disney Studios, it is just a short boat ride away.

I have to agree with other posters that it was disappointing that they shut down SAB at night. I didn't expect that, and while I understand the reasons for it, it does kind of stink. Who wants to swim in a plain old pool with all of SAB staring you in the face? Also, the lack of decent quick service food and the slow bus service to both MK and AK were hugely disappointing.

2. Beaches and Cream and the Kitchen Sink. Nuff said.

3. The friendliest CM's anywhere (especially Teena!).

4. Stormalong Bay, regardless of how late it stays open!

5. Ridiculous options for dining between Y&B, BW, S&D, and EPCOT.

A little thing called liability lawsuits came along. I believe last year we had about 3000 accidental drownings in pools for little kids and I bet if you asked every one of those parents they would tell you that they are great parents and do pay attention to their kids.

Disney is in no way going to take that chance. The already have an entire fleet of lawyers who stay busy from folks who are suing over some thing that happen in the parks.

If it were that "simple" there would be a whole lot of unemployeed lawyers.

All of this. We stayed at the Beach Club on our last trip and every minute was just unbelievably awesome.
