Thinking about staying at Beach Club Resort. If you stayed there please tell me all the positive things it has to offer.

Haven't stayed there in over 15 years but always have wanted to go back. LOVE the location! Walking distance to Epcot and Hollywood Studios! Convenient to Beaches and Cream where you can experience eating the Kitchen Sink! Awesome pool even though we visited in January and did not use the pool. I love the theming/decor but that is a personal thing. We've stayed at the Boardwalk Villas and the Dolphin but I've always wanted to return to the Beach Club with our kids.

I suggest you check out the BC/YC thread. Tons of info on it. We stayed last August and loved it. Can't beat the location. Walk to Epcot. Walk or boat to DHS. Fantastic pool, good dining options. Love B&C, Cape May, and Capt. Grille. Hurricane Hanna's has great burgers by the pool.
Rooms are very nice and the resort is beautiful.
We had a garden view room.

Being able to walk to two parks is the greatest thing for me...

:welcome: to the DIS! The BC is one of our favorite resorts for so many reasons! In fact, we are going back this January!

I would check out the 2012 Yacht & Beach FAQ on this forum for all the pictures and information you could possibly need to help you decide!

We love the BC for the following reasons:
-Beachy, airy decor.. just feels like home!
-Stormalong Bay (best resort pool in WDW.. more like a mini water park)
-Easy walking/boat access to Epcot and the Studios, as well as the Boardwalk just across the lake
-Yummy dining options (ie Cape May Cafe, Beaches & Cream)
-And many more reasons, but this list would become a book!

Good luck with your decision. :goodvibes

The BC is a beautiful resort and if you will be spending alot of time at Epcot/DHS, you can't being within walking distance to both parks. Plus the boardwalk across the lake is great for nightly entertainment.

We absolutely fell in love with the Beach Club after our first stay there a few years ago:) Awesome pool which my girls just loved and the location is AMAZING since we love the short walk to Epcot. This year, we are giving the Yacht Club a try! You won't be disappointed by the Beach Club!! Have an awesome trip!

we actually prefer the Yacht Club. We enjoy a balcony early morning and at night, and very few Beach Club rooms have balconies. Beach Club Villas are a different story. The Yacht Club shares amenities with the Beach Club, so you still have access to Storm Along Bay, Hurricane Hanahs, etc. You will enjoy either one!:)

BC is our favorite resort, YC is our second favorite. We prefer them over both the Polynesian and the GF (although both are great resorts).

There are so many reasons we love BC:

1. Location, location, location!
2. Nothing beats walking over to EPCOT for dinner!
3. SAB - best pool on Disney property
4. Great cms!
5. Beaches and Cream, Cape May Buffet, Captain's Grille, Yachtsman's Steakhouse and Hurricane Hannah's!
6. Tons of activities for the kids by the pool and movie/campfire each night

Come over to the BC/YC thread and you'll see why people love this resort so much!

We picked BC as our resort for our first time in disney. And we have since visited disney 5 more times. And every time, we stay at BC. Sure we have looked into other resorts, but BC just wins with us.

Their pool is the BEST.
They have many great restaurants. Cape May is a must do for every trip. No Way Jose from Beaches and Cream is the yummiest sundae you will ever have!
A stroll to Epcot. It is so fun to take pictures in the world showcase while it is empty on your way to future world early in the morning.
A short boat ride to DHS
The grounds and resort are gorgeous!
Movies on the beach!
Boardwalk is within walking distance. We go to the Boardwalk Bakery for some yummy goods before our day in the parks. Or the boardwalk at night has lots of fun activities.
BC has great CMs and a great location. :cloud9:

we just stayed at the bc. love the fact that is and easy walk to epoct, 10m - 20min walk to disney studios or a boat ride.Best pool sandy bottom.

We just stayed there 2 weeks ago for our first DVC trip. It was AMAZING!! Staying at AKV and BWV/OKW in the next year and while I am excited about those trips, I secretly wish we were going back to BCV!

I heard a lot about it being close to Epcot, but had no idea how rediculously close it really is. Also, 90% of the park guests gather at the front half of Epcot to watch Illuminations so they can take the bus or monorail home. The World Showcase is hardly crowded at all, so you can literally find a spot at 8:55 and walk back to BC when it's over.

One of my favorite nights was when we watched Illuminations, went to Beaches and Cream for ice cream comes, then sat on the beach and watched a movie. The restaurants are all great. And Hurricane Hanna's serves their kid meals in a pail with a shovel!!

The pool has a sand bottom. How fun is that?!?!

One last thing, you can walk to the Boardwalk, which is so much fun at night! We had dinner outside at Big River Grill and spent the evening watching the street performers and eating funnel cake!

I could go on and on about how much I loved BC! Everything is amazing... The rooms, the pool, the location. Book your vacation there...you won't be disappointed!!

Pros:

  • As everyone says...location, location, location. Illuminations ended and we were back in our room in 5 minutes.
  • Stormalong Bay. Great pool complex (not exactly a mini-water park like some claim though), kids loved the sand bottom and of course, the slide. There is a negative though - see cons below.
  • Lots of activities by the pool in the daytime and the campfire/movie at night.
  • Beautiful lobby (and everyone loves that smell) and super nice CMs.
  • Pleny of TS dining options nearby.

Cons:

  • Lack of CS dining options - particularly for breakfast.
  • The price tag.
  • Buses stopping at Swan, Dolphin, BW and Yacht Club before getting to BC.
  • Not sure if this is the norm ,but we had lots of maintainence issues: hot tub by quiet pool not working for several days, single elevator (where our room was near) out of order several days were just a couple.
  • The biggest con for me though was this: while SAB is a great pool complex, it needs to be open longer. Closing it at 10pm (in August) is absurd. It also didn't open until 9 or 10am. It should be open at least from 6am to midnight (if not 24 hours). The fact that we couldn't enjoy it after returning from the parks was very bothersome.

Just so you know - although SAB does close at 10 in the summer months the quiet pools are open 24 hours a day.

We've also never had a problem with maintenance.

While there isn't a food court we never had a problem with breakfast. The BC Marketplace has breakfast items and you are so close to the Boardwalk Bakery. Of course there are two ts restaurants for breakfast and there is always room service!

In the busy months (summer) when we've been there the MK bus is just YC and BC. Sometimes to DTD and the waterparks or AK you might share a bus, but not always.

I'm going to agree with this. For most people, the majority of BC/YC appeal (along with location) is that pool. I for one, can't wait to get to it in August, but it would be nice to have it open later, if not 24 hours. I know this is standard practice around WDW, but if there ever were a pool that needed to be open longer, it's SAB.

And as for the quiet pools being open 24/7....meh? No one is coming to the BC/YC for those pools. ;)

:thumbsup2 That was a ridiculous statement that the PP made.

When we stayed at CBR two years ago (we stayed at BC last year), the main pool (and hot tubs) was open 24/7. They did close the slides when the lifeguards went off duty, and that was fine. They can certainly do something similar with SAB - have the lifeguards go off duty and close the slide at 10pm but leave the rest of it open. They can close it from 2-6am for cleaning and maintainence.

True, but because SAB is such a large pool complex you couldn't have it open without lifeguards (like the Polynesian volcano pool or the GF Beach pool). I just meant that if you want to take a quick dip in a pool after hitting the parks at least there are options.

Actuallyu pool was open until 11 pm when we were there 2 weeks ago...We too prefer YC but BC is close second! location unbelievable and just a super friendly clean lovely resort. If you opt to stay club level, ALLL garden view rooms on club have full balconies...fyi...Though BC Club Level didn't wow me like YC CL did...but that is my personal taste. Lovely resort!! YC or BC only for us!

The area is absolutely beautiful. Proximity to EPCOT is fantastic, as we love park hopping into EPCOT in the evening. The CMs we've encountered were all lovely and many went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. Rooms are light and bright with nice white, fluffy bedding...no scratchy comforters here! And, yes, the pool is FANTASTIC!!! And it was open 'till 11 when we were there last July. :thumbsup2
