Hello all! I opened the Beach Club, at the front desk, back in 1990 and am now a server at Cape May Cafe. I remember a little info about Cape May Cafe, like at opening, there was a breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet. There was a lobby bar called The Riptide Lobby bar, right off of the front desk, that was closed and made into part of Cape May's dining room. I don't remember if there were characters starting from day 1, and if that was breakfast only. My coworkers and I have seen pictures with characters in different costumes in the restaurant and are trying to get a timeline of when the changes happened. Does anyone have pictures from the early 90's that they could post or any other info that could help?

I can back as far 2004 as far as Dinner there was no characters no idea about breakfast but I want to say there was not. There was no lunch. I recall paying around 50 for 2 with tip likely 18-20%. So breakfast may have been in the 10-12 range? People waited for and had mostly the clams as it was a clam bake. They had the crab legs which was not popular and ribs which were also not popular it was the clams that were hard to get. They also had muscles. No pictures… I believe it was the same size as it is today as we went a few times after but all in the 2000’s.
When Art the greeter was there always….
The hills to Epcot and walking in with strollers did not mix well. We do stay at the area resorts again now with well walking teen.

I have a few from 1996! These were from breakfast, and I don't remember if that was the only meal that had them. Looks like of the characters we got pictures with, only Goofy was dressed up special. Also, looking at more recent pictures, it looks like Pluto no longer has "claws", but did back then!

Thank you for this info!! I worked with Art at the front desk, before he was the greeter!

We used to eat breakfast at Cape May in the 90's and it was a character meal for breakfast.

I remember the Riptide Bar. I think they had "free" coffee available in the early morning hours but stopped serving it by 7am, or earlier. I used to go running early in the morning and grab a free cup of coffee before heading back to the room. :)

On our first visit, in 1994, we had dinner at Cape May Cafe. We couldn't believe how extensive the buffet was and that the crab legs were included! IIRC, there were characters there, a surprise for us. It was a memorable part of that trip.

Although this wasn't until 2007, I found proof that Stitch was there, at least that day.
