Day 1, first day of an 11 day stay at Beach Club Resort

Cast includes myself 37, a tween at 11 and a teen at 15. All days were at Disney with the exception of the last which was spent at Aquatica. I utilized Tour Mike to schedule which parks for which days and then Ridemax to plan our day. You will see as the TR goes on, we had NO LONG WAITS and were usually ahead of schedule. When we go again will purchase both again for scheduling. Quick positive side note: Had no issues at all with rude people or people with scooters or strollers (you can read some horror stories on here but am glad to report we ran into none of them).

Left Minneapolis MN at 6:45am (CST) with a quick stop in Atlanta arrived at Orlando at 2:45pm (EST). Flew with Airtran and, as always in the past, had no issues with them at all. Excellent customer service and on-time arrivals. Upgraded to business class at the 24 hour mark. Business class you are able to check 2 bags free of charge so the upgrade really only cost me $19 per ticket. If you count a free glass of wine in flight it only cost me $13, for me anyway lol…..

Had booked magical express but ultimately decided to use FL Tours again for ground transportation. They were always on time and very professional, we had them booked for the trip to/from Aquatica as well as the return to the airport. Now don’t flame me for this, but I did have our luggage go with magical express even though we did not take the bus. No problems with this, I told them at check-in and was told this is actually quite common. Bags were waiting in our room when we got back from Epcot around 7:30pm. Also ordered food and drinks from Garden Grocers. It was delivered to the bell station and I called for it once we got back. Was brought up by a wonderful bell employee who was tipped well do to all the cases of pop and water lol…

Checked in on-line. One of their questions was what time we would be arriving. When we got out of the towncar we were greeted by name (arrival time along with description of party???? I am guessing that is how they knew who we were) escorted directly to the front desk and all checked-in in under 5 minutes. Room request of ground floor was not available but did receive a full balcony on the 3rd floor over-looking the quiet pool with the lake in the background. I don’t think doing the on-line check in had anything to do with not getting our request. I called a couple of days prior to leaving and checked on it and was told there was none available for our date of arrival but that we did have a full balcony so they do assign rooms prior to the day of check-in. We had 2 queen beds but there was not a day bed in our room. Room was overall in excellent condition but did look a little worn with the furniture. The alarm clock does have a complete docking station for an I-pod.

Plan was to tour resort, had ADR for Cape May, and then go play mini-golf but once the kids saw the short walk-way to Epcot they wanted to go. I told them I didn’t have a “plan” for Epcot that night but they insisted. Before going to Epcot went to the seafood buffet at Cape May. I am not a “huge” seafood fan but wanted something in the hotel. Excellent ribs and salad buffet!!!! The kids said the crab legs were wonderful, I don’t eat them but they looked huge so if that is good they looked excellent. The buffet was a little short on side vegetables. Once I saw people coming back with plates piled high with mussels and clams I figured out why, lol…. Dessert bar was excellent and service was excellent. Off to Epcot now.

Epcot crowds were not too bad. When we got there we went straight to the land and the wait was 110 minutes, I told the kids that is why we only go to the parks with a “plan” (had length of stay tickets so did not waste a day going this night). Looked around and did The Land with no wait. Walked over to Test Track and the line was 90 minutes so went and did The Universe of Energy with no wait, in fact once everyone was seated it was over half empty. Came out and checked Test Track again and the wait was 80 minutes, even the single rider line was over an hour. The girls wanted to wait saying “it is worth it” I said no way knowing I had a “plan” and would not have a wait on our scheduled days. The girls waited it out and I headed back to our resort. The girls have been to Disney multiple times, knew their way around, and I felt comfortable letting them walk back to the resort alone with their cell phones.

I returned to the resort, unpacked and organized the room. Spent the remaining part of the evening relaxing around the quiet pool and reading. Checked-in with the girls multiple times on the cell phone. After they completed test track they went on Space Ship earth with a 5 minute wait. They were back at the resort by 10pm and I sent them off to bed as we had rope drop at HS the next day.

Kind of a boring first day. Please let me know any recommendations for what you would like to see in the coming days (this is my first trip report). The days are as follows if you want to jump around after reading this: Day 2 HS along with Pizza Planet Arcade and Sci Fi reviews, 3 AK with Tamu Tamu and Chef Mickey reviews, 4 Epcot with Sunshine Factory and Coral Reef reviews, 5 MK with Crystal palace, Cosmic rays, and Dessert Party reviews, 6 Blizzard Beach for the girls and the Spa at the Dolphin for me, not Disney dining reservations that day (ordered in Pizza Hut which is one of the “approved” pizza deliveries for the resort along with Dominos), 7 Epcot with Beach Club Marketplace and room service reviews, 8 HS with Beaches and Cream review, 9 MK and DTD with Pecos Bills and T-Rex reviews (also parasailing at the Contemporary), 10 Aquatica at Sea World room service again at BCR so will not do another review (not pleased with the food selections available at the private cabanas but you will have to read about that, 11 travel day back with excitement, tornados and diversion of our plan to a different airport. 11 days at a Disney deluxe resort and the return plane ride is probably what the kids will remember the most lol…… Send those recommendations for what you want to hear about and I will talk to you again tomorrow!

I like it so far! How did you enjoy the BC?

I loved it! The kids not so much. They didn't feel it was "Disney enough". The 15 year old complained there weren't enough "boys". She was technically correct, the kids tended to be younger and the adult population older. None of what I would call the partying age late teens early 20's.

If I was to do a solo trip or an adult only trip I would definitely do the BCR again. Would not do it again with the kids, for a deluxe charge they do not enjoy it enough.

Awesome! I am really interested in seeing how TGM and Ridemax helped!

I have a 9 yr old (was 8 at that time) and she loved the pool. We stayed in one of the rooms on the first floor, right off the lobby around the corner from the gift shop. It has a little patio that looked out over the lake. It was super!

The 11y.o. loved the pool the 15y.o. not so much due to there being "not enough boys". I loved the resort!

Day 2 6/16 Hollywood Studios

Up early, had breakfast in the room. Staying at BCR we went to the boat dock at 8am. HS waiting area is on the shady side in the morning. Got on the boat, sat outside in the back. Stopped at the Swan & Dolphin then off to the HS.

We arrived at HS and the lines were long off to the right, went to the left and asked the cast members if these would open and she said yes so lined up there. There was 1 gate open for the character breakfast, some of the Disney guests tried to get in saying “we are staying on property we can get in early” they were not let in. I think they were thinking about EMH, EMH were that night not in the morning.

Through the gates at 8:45, and at the rope, on the LEFT as is noted in every tour guide for TSM. Per Ridemax, the girls went to Star Tours while I got FP. At RD was one of the first there and got a return time for 9:40am.

Met the girls at Star Tours and we had no wait. Left ST to go to the Muppets. Checked my bag and MY CAMERA AND CELL PHONE WERE GONE, I figured they fell out at ST. Went to the cast members to see if it was ok to go through the exit and try to find them and was given the ok. Went through the exit. As the next group of riders exited they had my cell phone in hand, asked if I was looking for that and I said yes :} I said I also lost a camera I had to look for THE OTHER GUEST WENT BACK IN AND FOUND MY CAMERA FOR ME. Very nice, which is something you don’t here a lot about on Dis boards so I wanted to emphasize it.

Girls went to Muppets and we met up at Toy Story. Ride was ok but I do not understand the hype about it. It is all a big game not really a ride like TOT or RRC. I was there for the first fastpass, when I got out of line the fastpass line was backed up to The Little Mermaid.

From there I got FP for both TOT and RRC. Had lunch at Pizza Planet Arcade while waiting for our FP return times. Food was good, was using the dining plan so not worried about the price, but 8.99 for a single serving pizza and salad was a bit high. I was talking to a serviceman staying at Shades of Green and he was trying to budget for lunch. He said the meal plan was not available at his resort. I think that is wrong. I told him the prices and he elected to have his 2 boys share a meal. The meals are large so it was fine but it is hard to see a service member have to split meals because Disney won’t offer the meal plan at their resort.

Went on TOT and RRC and saw the shows. We had 2 days planned here so only Beauty and the Beast and Indy were scheduled for this day. LOVE beauty and the beast. I wanted to see the little mermaid again but the girls didn’t so we skipped it (see below at the boat ride home).

Ate that evening at Sci Fi. They were running about 15 minutes behind which wasn’t bad. I know there have been bad reviews, I love this place. The girls were able to order off the lunch menu since they wanted burgers. I had the ribs which were EXCELLENT. On the dining plan the girls got milkshakes for drinks. Could not fit in dessert but they gave it to us in a to go box!

After riding once we still had a set of FP for both RNR and TOT. The girls stayed to ride and I headed by boat back to the resort. Excellent Captains on the boat. They started karaoke and a girl stood up and sang the “theme song” for The Little Mermaid so I didn’t feel like I missed the whole show before.

I was back at the resort and relaxing and reading by storm along bay. 3 ducks visited me. If you sit in the shade where the slide ends, there are 3 ducks that stay there and in the bushes. Please feed them for me, I think they got spoiled the 11 days we were there!~

Love your report we will be staying at BC in August for 7 nights my boys are 12 and 15, they will like it. evil laugh:lmao: We are eating at cape may the first night too, we love the place.:cloud9: Keep it coming popcorn::

Sorry for this newbie question, but how do you get FP for two rides at once? :confused3

Not at once, I should have clarified that. I waited for the time for the next available FP and then went and got it. It sounds like a lot of running around by HS is really quite a small park.

Thanks a lot for clarifying that :)

I am behind schedule:confused3 we have VIP tickets for Justin Bieber tonight and are caught up in that "hype". My daughter is only 11 so I am stuck going with her, can't wait lol.....

Great trip report so far. The only thing that could make it even better would be to add a few pictures with each post. :thumbsup2
