We will be staying at the Y&BC next year. The BC looks more kid friendly and it is a closer walk to Epcot and the Boardwalk. My only apprehension is that many rooms do not have a real balcony. A balcony is important to us.

Any thoughts? Is the YC more stuffy? Is the extra walk that big a deal? Anyone know how many BC rooms don't have balconies? What is the chance we will be disappointed with the view/balcony if we decide to go to the BC?

Thanks for any input you have.

If a balcony is that important, then go with the Yacht Club, all rooms have balconies there. The Yacht Club is not stuffy and there is not that much difference in distance to Epcot. The pool sits right in the middle of the two.

If you book the Beach Club make sure you request a "full balcony." Those tend to be on the 2nd floor.

A balcony is unfortunately, something that is never guaranteed. There are actually a few rooms at the YC which either don't have any balconies or have the smaller style. The BC has a mixture of balconies, with some being full, others being shared or standing room only. Personally, I love the look of the BC and you are interested in staying there, you can simply put in a request for ground floor room. They all have patios. My favorite area is down by the quiet pool. If you want, take a look at this site, http://www.disneyzone.net/bcresort.htm. The floorplans are dated, but it still gives you a great idea on what area would best suit your needs.

Hope that helps.

We've stayed at the Yacht and the Beach Club. We like the vibe at the Beach Club a little better...it is a bit less stuffy. Although we love both resorts. Here's what we do to increase our chances of getting a balcony. We always fax in a request about 3 days prior to arrival asking for a room with a full balcony or a patio. We've never been disappointed, they have always met our request. I asked them back in July if they got our fax request and they said, "yes we did and we have blocked out a room just for you." Boy did they! We had a corner room, a king dormer room really, on the 4th floor with a long balcony. The CMs at both the YC and the BC are wonderful.
