Was kicking around the idea of staying at the Beach Club instead of the Pop Century Resort this August.

We would have to stay in a 2 bedroom villa, because there are 5 of us (3 adults & 2 kids, ages 7 & 9).

The price for 3 nights would end up being $1873.20, instead of the 2 rooms at POP, which would cost $662.31

The two main reasons I'd want to stay here are Storm-A-Long Bay and the close proximity to Epcot.

I would be paying for most of it as a surprise to my family.

Do you think this is worth it?

Well, we absolutely love the Beach Club Villas, and there is no finer accommodations at WDW than a 2 BR. However, August may have very limited availability since DVC members book 11 months out. You might want to check into that before you get too excited.

If you plan a little further ahead next trip, you might be able to save quite a bit by renting points from a DVC member for the weeknights.

You probably want to call and check to see if it's available. The 2 bedrooms go fast with DVC member. It's what we usually get with our points. They are really roomy and nice. We love staying there. We also love having the refrig and stove. It's nice to be able to eat some breakfasts and lunches at the villa.

I agree with the others. We are DVC members and have also booked a two bedroom unit at the BCV in August. I would check on availability before I got my hopes up.

Oh, you're gonna be so spoiled by it you'll have a hard time going back to any of the value hotels afterwards...

We've stayed at ASMo in 2 connecting rooms and stayed just recently in a 2 br villa at BC. We loved the villa at BC. We chose it for the same reasons... SAB and close proximity to Epcot. The kitchen and w/d were great to have, as well as the extra room and more homey feel vs being in 2 connecting rooms. The quick boat ride to MGM was very convenient and the bus service to the other parks was efficient.

I decided to change to the villa from 2 connecting BC resort rooms a month or 2 prior to departure. They didn't have anything available w/points (rented) the one time I called so I just watched it online until I saw something available. Availability seemed to change frequently. I had to pay the cash rate but got an AP discount so that at least helped.

I'd sure give it a shot. August is NOT the favored time for DVC members to makes ressies, it's a bit slower than some of the others.

By the way, if the 3 nights are weeknights (not Friday or Saturday), and you are going early in August, you are looking at 120 points (less if after aug 15). At the going rate of $10 or $11 point a rental from a member could run you $1200 - $1300 and save a bit of money on your stay.

thanx all for your help

I finally gave in and booked 3 nights at the Beach Club Villas.

I cant wait to surprise my family with this. They think we are staying at Pop Century Resorts for our whole stay....instead, we are staying at the Beach Club Villas for 3 nights (2-bedroom villa), and 4 nights at the Wilderness Lodge (Deluxe Room).

I have two months to go...I hope I can hold out.

thank you all again!!!

Congratulations! :cool1:

What a wonderful gift for your family. :grouphug:
