Be warned... not a new scam, but be careful

Please remember to be very careful when trading codes for items in-game.

I've seen several people get scammed or almost scammed over the past couple of days by trading items for codes.

I've seen a few people trying to pawn off the Pirate Hat w/ Patch as a Sparrow Hat. Sure hope they don't fool any inexperienced players.

Yes. This is an old scam.

Your best bet is to trade codes only with those that you trust implicitly.

Also, if the item can be traded in the game, make sure that the person enters the code first then trade the item (ie: animation viewer).

If it's rooms or red spacesuit magic, you might also think of a very trustworthy CL to hold items.
