January 2nd is the 180 day mark. You can begin booking ADRs online at 6:00am or by phone at 7:00am.

1) If staying on-site, you get an extra 10-days ahead of 180 days.
2) If you wait until that date, you might be too late, as others might have made ADR's well before you.

You stated your vacation begins on July 1st. I took that to mean that was the day you were checking in to your WDW resort? You can begin making ADRs 180 days prior to your resort check in date, which is January 2nd if you are checking in on July 1st. Since you are staying onsite, you can make up to 10 days of ADRs beginning on the 180th day prior to check in.

No. You can book starting January 2.

You are more likely to be able to get BOG for late in your stay than first night.

I thought it was 180 days out from the start of your trip, and then up to ten days after that date can also be booked at the same time. So if your meal date and first date of the trip is the same, 7/1/17, wouldn't the first booking date still be the 1/2/17 date given above?

Yes.

This is also why OP is more likely to be able to get BOG late in trip rather than early.

Honestly, you need to be online at 6AM EST. If you wait until 7 to call, then land on hold, dinner for day one will certainly already be gone.

I agree with this. For the best chance of getting an arrival day ADR at BOG, you need to be online right at 6:00am. Even then, you might not be able to get it since people who have checked in before you have already been able to book ADRs for that day.
